Building the "Bharat-seva-hub" Portal: A Full Month of Learning and Creation

Introduction
This May was a power-packed month of productivity, creativity, and skill-building. I dedicated the entire month to developing one of my most useful and relevant projects so far โ a government job listing portal named Sarkari Job Finder. The idea was simple: build a central platform to simplify the discovery of Central, State, Defence, and other government job opportunities. But what followed was a journey filled with UI/UX decisions, component architecture, research, deployment challenges, and creative problem-solving.
Project Summary
Project Name: Bharat-seva-hub
Tech Stack: HTML, CSS, JavaScript (Vanilla), Netlify (for deployment)
Key Features:
Centralized listing of Central & State Government jobs
Category-wise pages (Defence, ISRO, DRDO, Railways, Banking, etc.)
Interactive Fun Facts for every job sector
Flip-card UI for Government App flashcards
Accordion-based hierarchy for SSC job categories
Hover animations, pop-ups, and visual polish
What I Built
1. Home Page
A neat layout that introduces users to the website, lists categories clearly, and features an animated Ashoka Chakra. It also includes a welcome popup and dynamic background color changes for visual appeal.
2. Job Categories
Each job category (Central, ISRO, DRDO, Defence, Banking, Railways, etc.) has its own HTML page listing relevant job boards and roles. This structure makes the portal accessible and scalable.
3. State-Wise Job Listing
I created cards for all 29 Indian states with real department/board listings. Each state card has hover effects to enhance UX.
4. Flip Flashcards for Government Apps
Users can explore various Government apps by hovering on app icons, which flip to reveal their purpose. Clean animations and responsive design add to user engagement.
5. Fun Facts Section
Each category has a dedicated fun fact page. I manually compiled and wrote over 100+ fun facts related to Central Government, DRDO, Defence, ISRO, Banking, and Government Schemes.
6. SSC Job Hierarchy
A collapsible accordion chart was added to show the hierarchy and sub-categories under the SSC recruitment structure.
What I Learned
๐น Frontend Architecture
Planning reusable components, consistent layout, and scalable HTML structure helped me build efficiently.
๐น CSS Mastery
From animations to transitions and hover effects, this project helped me practice and refine my modern CSS skills.
๐น Research
Researching department names, government portals, and real fun facts improved my attention to detail and understanding of public sector roles.
๐น Git & Netlify
I used GitHub for version control and Netlify for smooth deployment. Faced and resolved pre-commit hook issues and learned how to troubleshoot deployment errors.
๐น Writing for the Web
Fun fact writing helped me improve my ability to communicate complex ideas in a fun and simplified way.
Future Work โจ
AI Integration: Add a smart assistant to help users find relevant jobs based on their qualifications, location, and preferences.
Dynamic Backend: Replace static job lists with dynamic API integration to show real-time vacancies.
Notifications: Add a feature for users to get notified about new jobs.
More Fun Facts: Continue growing the fun fact section with illustrations and gamification.
Final Thoughts ๐ญ
This project helped me polish my frontend fundamentals, enhanced my writing skills, and gave me a practical experience of developing a complete web app from idea to deployment. I now have a better grip on deployment flows, content planning, and UI decisions.
๐ May was a full-on project month โ and this was one of my most rewarding creations so far.
Stay tuned โ bigger and smarter things are coming!
