Taking My Time, Building My Life

Sometimes, life isn’t about rushing to the finish line—it’s about slowing down, figuring things out, and being okay with the time it takes to grow. This is a little story from my heart, about where i’m right now and the dreams i’m chasing at my own pace.
You know, i used to think i needed to hit certain milestones by a certain age—marriage, house, dream car, the whole checklist. But lately, i’ve come to realize... life doesn’t have to be a race. It’s okay to take my time.
Right now, i’m in a way where i’m setting things up slowly but intentionally. I’m being clear about what i want, learning to be patient, and reminding myself that it’s okay to go at my own pace.
People sometimes ask, “Why aren’t you married yet?” For me, it’s not just about getting married—it’s about being ready. Emotionally, financially, mentally. I want to build a life with someone, not just plan a wedding. That’s why we’ve decided to give ourselves time. No pressure, just preparation.
And sure, there are days when it feels like I’m falling behind. But deep down, I know I’m not. I’m walking slowly—but with purpose. I’m not stuck, i’m just building a stronger foundation for my future.
One of the things i’ve always dreamed of is buying my own car—my dream car. In my head, it’s always been red. I even gave it a name: Gendhis. That car represents so much more than transportation. It’s a symbol of everything i’ve worked hard for. But after talking with my parents, they suggested i think about something more practical, especially with family in mind. So, i paused, re-evaluated, and now i’m saving up, hoping to buy it in cash someday. Slowly, but with intention.
At the same time, my partner has his own big dream: owning a home. We both know these things don’t happen overnight, so we’ve agreed to take our time, work on our goals, and walk toward marriage when we’re truly ready.
This journey has also taught me how to be more mindful with money—cutting down on unnecessary spending, choosing savings over impulse buys, and focusing on what truly matters. It’s not always easy, but it feels worth it.
Lately, I’ve been seeing my life from two sides. On one side, i’m a woman with personal dreams—marriage, family, all of that. On the other, i’m a daughter who wants to make my parents proud. I’m so grateful i’ve been able to finish my studies—both undergrad and master’s—and now i’m working on another dream that’s for them. It’s my way of giving back all the love and support they’ve given me.
In the end, i’ve realized that life doesn’t need to move fast. It’s not about checking everything off as quickly as possible. It’s about showing up fully for your own journey, being kind to yourself in the process, and celebrating the little wins that slowly lead to bigger ones.
So if you’re like me—walking toward your dreams slowly, maybe even quietly—just know: you’re not behind. You’re building something real. And that’s more than enough. 🤍
