My First Teen Patti Game Was a Disaster – Don’t Make My Mistakes!

🎴 My First Teen Patti Game Was a Disaster – Don’t Make My Mistakes! Let me take you back to Diwali 2018. The lights were glowing, ladoos were being passed around, and my cousins decided it was the perfect time to teach me Teen Patti. What could go wrong?

Everything.

I had no idea what a chaal was. I couldn’t tell the difference between a trail and a color. I bet big with a weak hand, folded when I had a winning one, and got roasted for hours. That night, I lost ₹2,000 and all my confidence.

But here’s the good news: I’ve learned from my mistakes. And now I’m here to save you from making the same ones.

🎲 What Is Teen Patti, Really? Teen Patti literally means “Three Cards” in Hindi. It’s kind of like the Indian cousin of Poker, but simpler and way more fun — especially during festivals and late-night friend hangouts.

Each player is dealt three cards. The goal? Have the best hand, or bluff like a Bollywood villain until everyone else folds.

🧠 The Teen Patti Hands – Ranked from Best to Worst Before you even touch those chips, memorize these hands:

Trail (Set) – Three of the same rank (e.g., three Kings)

Pure Sequence – Three cards in order, same suit (e.g., 4♦️5♦️6♦️)

Sequence (Run) – Three cards in order, different suits (e.g., 7♣️8♦️9♠️)

Color (Flush) – Three cards of the same suit, any order

Pair – Two cards of the same rank + one odd card (e.g., 8♠️8♦️Q♥️)

High Card – None of the above; just the highest card wins

👉 Remember: If two players have the same hand type, the one with the higher card wins.

🃏 How to Actually Play Teen Patti (The Easy Way) Here’s a simple breakdown:

Start the Pot (Boot) – Everyone places a small amount in the center.

Deal the Cards – Each player gets three cards face down.

Play Blind or Seen – You can choose to play without seeing your cards (blind), or look at them (seen).

Take Turns Betting – Players take turns betting or folding. Blind players bet less than seen players.

Raise, Call or Pack – Choose to increase the bet, match it, or fold if you’re not confident.

Ask for a Show – When only two players remain, one can request a “show” to compare cards.

Winner Takes All – The best hand wins the pot.

🧩 The Secret Rules No One Tells You Blind players bet half of what seen players bet.

If a seen player is challenged by a blind player to a show, the seen player must accept.

A sideshow can be requested (only by seen players) to compare cards privately with the previous player.

If you run out of chips, you’re automatically folded.
