operation sindoor, May 7 2025, India VS pakistan, Pahalgam

On April 22, 2025, militants ambushed a bus of Hindu pilgrims near Pahalgam, Kashmir, killing 26 civilians, including a Nepalese national. The Resistance Front (TRF) claimed responsibility, but investigations traced links to Pakistan-based terror groups Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM). This brutal attack, targeting innocent civilians, sparked nationwide outrage and demands for action.
In response, India launched Operation Sindoor on May 7, 2025 — a swift, high-precision joint military strike by the Army, Navy, and Air Force. Lasting only 23 minutes, the operation targeted nine key terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, including Bahawalpur (JeM HQ) and Muridke (LeT HQ). Extensive intelligence gathering and careful planning ensured precise strikes on militant training bases and logistics hubs.
India deployed advanced weaponry like Rafale jets armed with SCALP cruise missiles, AASM Hammer bombs, and the S-400 Triumf air defense system to neutralize retaliatory threats. The operation’s name, Sindoor, symbolized a tribute to the widows of the slain pilgrims, whose vermilion was wiped away in mourning.
India reported over 100 terrorists neutralized, while Pakistan claimed civilian casualties, though independent verification is pending. Limited aerial skirmishes followed, with both sides claiming minor victories.
International reactions were mixed: the U.S., France, and Russia backed India’s right to self-defense but urged restraint; China called for dialogue; and the UN expressed concern over rising tensions.
Operation Sindoor marked a shift in India’s counter-terrorism strategy — demonstrating proactive defense, technological superiority, and strategic symbolism. It conveyed India’s resolve to preempt terror threats and sent a strong geopolitical message against cross-border terrorism.
