Waves, Walks & Warmth: My Journey Through Kerala

Kerala Arrival — Initial Impressions of God’s Own Country
As soon as I arrived in Kerala, I felt like the whole state was saying, “Calm down, dude.”
Cool wind, slow roads, smiling faces — no honking, no hurry. My train journey ended with a filter coffee at the station, and I just stood there thinking, “Why didn’t I get here sooner?”
Kerala was home without the pressure.
Finding My Stay — courtesy of cheQin.ai, not Google
I am honest — I did not book a single hotel before reaching there. But I had cheQin.ai on my phone, so I was not concerned. I uploaded my stay requirements such as:
Close to the backwaters, decent Wi-Fi, complimentary breakfast. Clean toilet, please!
I received bids from top 5 local hotels with the best rates.
I chose a serene location along the river in Alleppey with a large bed, balcony, and complimentary hot breakfast.
It was simple. No middlemen. No superficial photos. Just genuine choices from genuine hotels. That’s how a discerning traveller makes a booking now.
Spots I Visited — Kerala Is More Than Backwaters Alleppey Backwaters — Went for a boat ride that made me feel like a movie star. Peaceful, quiet, and the water was sparkling

Munnar Hills — Cold climate, green tea plantations, and fresh air that was like therapy.
Fort Kochi — Street paintings, cafes, Chinese fishing nets, and locals sharing cool stories.
Athirapally Falls — I was standing beside it and felt small. What a waterfall!
Kumarakom — Bird sanctuary and serene lake. Even the birds seemed to be relaxed.

Each destination was different. Each location had its own mood. And with CheQin.ai, I kept discovering stays around — from homestays to resorts, all within my budget.
Food in Kerala — Hot, Spicy, and Too Tasty to Say No
Food in Kerala? One word: bliss.
kerala sadya — So many dishes on a banana leaf, I lost count.
Puttu and Kadala Curry — Uncomplicated and potent.
Appam with stew — I’d eat this daily.
Hot beef fry — Spice level: tears but worth it.
Filter coffee — Smooth, strong, and soul-healing.
I ate like a local. And I forgot about calories — because who counts calories on the road?
People and Culture — Warm Hearts & Chilled Minds
Kerala folks are gentle, soft-spoken, and extremely helpful. My auto driver kept giving me tips like a tour guide. A houseboat owner said to me, “Peace is free in Kerala.”
The life here is uncomplicated. No rushing around. No yelling. It tells you to breathe slower and live lighter.
