Planting Hope: Tree Plantation Program at Pashupat Yoga and Meditation Ashram

"Keep a green tree in your heart and perhaps a singing bird will come." 💚🌿

In a world where concrete jungles are expanding at an alarming rate, the simple act of planting a tree becomes a powerful statement of hope and responsibility toward our planet. This past Saturday, Leo Club of Kathmandu Himalayas Patan, in collaboration with Leo Club of Kathmandu Manasalu, embodied this spirit by successfully conducting a Tree Plantation Program at श्री पाशुपत योग तथा ध्यान आश्रम (Shree Pashupat Yoga and Meditation Ashram) in Gothataar, Kathmandu.

A Morning of Environmental Stewardship

The program commenced at 8:00 AM with enthusiastic Leo members gathering at the serene premises of the ashram. Armed with saplings, gardening tools, and boundless energy, the young volunteers set out to make a tangible difference to the local ecosystem. The choice of location—a meditation ashram—was particularly fitting, as it symbolized the deep connection between environmental conservation and spiritual well-being.

Under the capable guidance of Program Coordinators Leo Aasha Jaiswal, Leo Durga Bhattarai, and Leo Shristi Dahal, participants worked diligently to plant native tree species that would thrive in the local climate. Each sapling planted represented not just a future tree, but a commitment to sustainable living and environmental responsibility.

Leadership and Collaboration

The success of this initiative was made possible through the support and guidance of key Leo leadership figures, including:

  • Leo District Council 325 R District Director, Leo Shruti Thapalia

  • Region Chairperson-1, Leo Bipin Yadav

  • Leo District Council 325 S Nepal District Director, Leo Bishwo Bhandari

Their presence and encouragement underscored the importance of leadership in environmental conservation efforts and inspired the participating members to give their best.

Special gratitude is extended to माहात्मा शुशिल Guru (Mahatma Sushil Guru), the founder of श्री पाशुपत योग तथा ध्यान आश्रम, for providing the venue and spiritual guidance for this meaningful activity. The ashram's commitment to fostering harmony between humans and nature created the perfect setting for this tree plantation program.

Impact Beyond Planting

While the immediate result of the program was the addition of new saplings to the ashram's landscape, the impact extends far beyond. Each participating member gained hands-on experience in environmental conservation and took away valuable lessons about teamwork, community service, and ecological responsibility.

The trees planted will grow to provide shade, absorb carbon dioxide, release oxygen, prevent soil erosion, and create habitats for birds and insects. In essence, this single morning of activity will generate positive environmental effects for decades to come.

Looking Forward

As these saplings take root and grow into strong trees, they will stand as living testaments to the Leo Clubs' commitment to environmental sustainability. This program represents just one of many initiatives by Leo clubs across Nepal to address pressing environmental concerns and engage youth in meaningful community service.

The Leo Club of Kathmandu Himalayas Patan extends heartfelt appreciation to all participating members whose enthusiasm and hard work made this program a resounding success. It is through such collective efforts that we can hope to create a greener, more sustainable future for Nepal and the world.

Remember, as the ancient proverb suggests – when we nurture nature, nature nurtures us in return. 🌱
