Hazlewood Returns for RCB, KKR Assembles Full Squad for Playoffs

Australia's Josh Hazlewood is poised to return to India and strengthen Royal Challengers Bangalore's (RCB) pursuit of their maiden IPL title. Sources close to the fast bowler confirmed his imminent travel to India, although the exact date of his arrival is still awaited.
Hazlewood, who has been integral to RCB’s strong IPL campaign this season, picking up 18 wickets in 10 matches, had missed their last match due to a shoulder injury. However, his fitness concerns were alleviated when he was included in Australia's World Test Championship (WTC) final squad, indicating his readiness for action.
The veteran pacer had initially returned to Australia after the IPL was temporarily suspended due to rising tensions between India and Pakistan. With the tournament now resuming on May 17, Hazlewood’s return is seen as a significant boost for RCB as they head into the crucial playoff stages.
In an official statement, a source confirmed, "Yes, Josh will travel to India. We are in discussions about the exact date of his arrival." Hazlewood’s presence is expected to bolster RCB's campaign, especially considering the potential absence of their captain, Rajat Patidar, due to injury.
Meanwhile, Hazlewood is not the only international cricketer returning to the IPL. Players from the West Indies and England, including Liam Livingstone and Romario Shepherd, have already joined their respective teams ahead of the resumption. Shepherd, who is part of the West Indies squad for their England tour starting May 29, may face a scheduling conflict with the IPL playoffs.
Cricket Australia, supportive of its players’ decisions to participate in the IPL, had stated that players would be given autonomy regarding their return to India. As Hazlewood’s availability for the May 17 match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) remains uncertain, RCB fans are hopeful that he will be ready in time to make a significant impact.
On the other hand, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have fully assembled their squad ahead of the May 17 match against RCB. All fit players and support staff are now in Bengaluru, ensuring that they are well-prepared for the upcoming clash. "KKR players and support staff have assembled in Bengaluru for our match vs RCB on May 17," said the franchise.
As the IPL playoffs approach, both teams are gearing up to make their mark, with RCB looking to capitalize on Hazlewood’s return and KKR fully prepared to face the challenge head-on.
