Nepal’s first Ai powered radio station

With rapid development in Ai and specifically in text-to-audio generation, hosting radio programs was already possible in various languages.
While many in the radio broadstating might disagree about the possibility of a fully automated Ai powered radio station, I have been testing the deployment of an Ai powered radio station in my home lab starting early this year. My experience as a Production-In-Charge in a radio station back in Nepal around 2007 did help a lot in understanding the infrastructure and operations needed for this project.
The posibility in the near future in beyond many can imagine, while most in the broadcasting industry are completely unaware. Currently, I am working to replicate an old school radio station with humans hosting the shows. When ready, Ai agents will be running the show, with different Ai hosts hosting shows in different voices and unique expressions. I am using RVC models for this. And there are currently some new Ai models that are expressive which are close to sounding like real humans. Last year, I published some of my Ai generated videos using similar technology.
Imagine a personalized radio that has shows tailered to any specific listeners’ taste with even ads generated specicifly for that listener. Meaning, each listener could be listening to same show with slight changes tailored to their preferences and even the ads are based on their liking. Such tailored content will be very possible because of the device, acivitiy, perference and other types of tracking and profiling of user that takes place by various apps and operating systems. I think this will be the future of radio. And these will of course will be on the intenet and not using radio frequencies on FM and AM channels.
Similar to advertisement generation in scale is now possible (I am working on one), same will happen for audio broadcasting. Beside this something I am even more excited is Ai powered DAWs which has started to release this year.
Seems like the future of many industry will be good prompts.
Here’s an Ai generated Ai podcast for the same station.
