TNPDCL Teams Set Up for Power Restoration Ahead of Monsoon

Ahead of the monsoon season, Tamil Nadu Power Distribution Corporation Limited (TNPDCL) has initiated a preparedness plan to handle power restoration efficiently. Sub-division level teams have been set up across key regions, focusing on the quick restoration of electricity supply, especially at critical locations like hospitals and drinking water facilities.
Chief Engineer of TNPDCL’s Coimbatore Region, K. Kuppurani, assured that the necessary materials, such as poles and emergency equipment, have been stocked to address potential disruptions swiftly. In addition, field staff have been equipped with personal protective gear to ensure their safety while working under adverse conditions. Specialised teams will be deployed to tackle power restoration during emergencies.
“Maintaining the power supply at essential locations, such as hospitals and water schemes, is our top priority," said Kuppurani, emphasizing the proactive measures taken to ensure minimal disruption during the rainy season.
Alongside this, TNPDCL's chief engineers have outlined a comprehensive list of safety precautions to prevent electrical accidents during the monsoon. Among the key guidelines are the installation of 30 Amp Residual Current Devices (RCD) for protection, the importance of using changeover switches when connecting generators to household wiring, and avoiding electrical usage in wet conditions.
Residents are urged to stay vigilant and follow safety guidelines, such as staying clear of fallen electric poles or exposed wires, refraining from using electrical appliances during water logging, and ensuring proper earthing for homes. Additional advice includes keeping children away from electrical infrastructure and refraining from attempting to repair electrical components without professional help.
By taking these precautions and preparing the teams for rapid response, TNPDCL aims to ensure safety and reliability during the monsoon season.
