Diapers and Wipes: Keeping Your Little Human Comfy and Not Smelly

Okay, let's talk diapers. You're gonna be dealing with a LOT of these. When they're tiny and not moving much, those regular "trap-trap" diapers? Yeah, they're fine. But once that kid starts crawling and exploring, those things can cause some serious chafing. I'm talking red, irritated skin – and nobody wants that.

That's why I swear by Pampers Cruisers 360. These things are a game-changer. You can just pull them on, which is a lifesaver when you've got a squirmy baby. Yeah, they're a little pricier, maybe a few extra bucks, but trust me, it's worth it for the convenience and comfort.

Diaper Buying Pro-Tip: Listen up! You won't need a ton of diapers when your baby is in those newborn sizes. But once they hit sizes 3 or 4? Prepare yourself. You're gonna be blowing through diapers like crazy. Here's my strategy:

  • Buy in bulk! Seriously, buy two boxes at a time. It almost always works out cheaper.

  • Target is your friend. They often have deals where if you buy two boxes, you snag a $10 or $15 gift card. Stock up and save!

Now, wipes. Let's be real, you're gonna be wiping a lot of poop. And this is important: don't use cloth wipes for poop or pee! I'm telling you, you're just asking for rashes. Disposable wipes are the way to go. We used Pampers Aqua Pure wipes, and they worked great for us.

Skin Care: Keeping That Baby Skin Soft and Rash-Free

Baby skin is sensitive, man. Sometimes it gets dry, especially after a bath. When that happens, hit it with some Aquaphor cream. This stuff is like magic.

And let's talk rashes. They're inevitable. Aquaphor also has a rash cream, but honestly, we mostly used Destin. It's thick, it's white, and it works. You can often find it a little cheaper at Target, so keep an eye out.

Bottles and Feeding: Nipple Flow and Keeping Things Clean

For bottles, we went with Philips Avent bottles. We actually bought the biggest size right from the start. Don't worry, you're not gonna fill it up all the way for a newborn. You start with a small amount of milk and gradually increase it as your doctor or nurse recommends.

Now, this is crucial: Pay attention to the nipple size! You'll see numbers like 1, 2, 3, 4 on them. These numbers tell you how fast the milk flows. If you use a size 3 nipple for a newborn, that baby might choke! You gotta buy a variety of sizes and figure out what works best.

Cleaning bottles? This is important too. We never washed bottles with regular dish soap. Seriously, never. Why? Because those soaps have a strong smell, and that smell can transfer to the bottle. Your baby might not wanna drink from a smelly bottle! We used a fragrance-free baby bottle soap.

And after washing, you gotta sterilize. Back in Nepal, people used to boil the bottles in water. Totally works, but it takes forever. A bottle sterilizer is where it's at. We used one for the microwave, and it was so much faster.
