Neha Singh Rathore: A Voice That Refuses Silence

Neha Singh Rathore stands out in the Indian music landscape as a bold and uncompromising voice. Through her sharp Bhojpuri folk songs, she addresses social and political issues that many choose to ignore. Her music is not just art—it’s activism.
Early Life and Education
Born in 1997 in Jandaha, Bihar, Neha grew up in a household that valued both tradition and expression. Her father is an architect; her mother, a homemaker and singer, nurtured Neha’s love for music. She completed her B.Sc. from Kanpur University in 2018. Even during her academic years, her bond with folk culture remained strong, laying the groundwork for her future in music.
Beginning of a Public Voice
Neha’s musical journey began in 2019 with simple recordings on her phone. The turning point came in 2020 during the COVID-19 lockdown. Moved by the suffering of migrant workers, she launched her YouTube channel, combining traditional attire with contemporary commentary. Her unique style and clear messaging quickly resonated with a large audience.
By the end of 2021, she had received YouTube’s Silver Creator Award. As of late 2023, her channel had over 1.2 million subscribers.
Songs That Sparked Dialogue
Neha’s most well-known works are part of her "Ka Ba" series, which uses satire to question governance and social justice:
“Bihar Mein Ka Ba” (2020): Released during the Bihar elections, focusing on migrant laborers’ struggles.
“UP Mein Ka Ba?” (2022): A pointed critique of issues like COVID-19 mismanagement and the Lakhimpur Kheri incident.
“UP Mein Ka Ba? Session-2” (2023): Addressed eviction drives and their impact on common people.
“MP Mein Ka Ba?” (2023): Reacted to a disturbing human rights violation in Madhya Pradesh, leading to legal action but widespread public support.
Despite facing political pushback and police notices, Neha continued to use her platform without compromise.
Personal Life and Public Impact
In 2022, Neha married Himanshu Singh. Despite her growing fame, she maintains a simple life closely connected to her roots. As of 2025, her estimated net worth ranges between ₹20–30 lakh, sourced from YouTube monetization, live performances, collaborations, and brand partnerships.
Legacy in Progress
Neha Singh Rathore’s journey is a testament to how music can challenge power and amplify unheard voices. She has shown that staying authentic—even in the face of criticism—can drive both cultural and social change. Her songs continue to raise difficult questions and offer a space for dialogue, reflection, and resistance.
