First T20I Recap: England Snags the Early W
The T20I series exploded into action on May 21 at Canterbury, with England going full savage mode, snagging an 8-wicket win to jump 1-0 ahead in the three-game showdown! West Indies captain Hayley Matthews was an absolute beast, dropping her third T20I century—100 runs off 67 balls, smacking that ton right on the last ball like a total boss!
Talk about clutch! But the rest of the squad kinda crumbled, with Mandy Mangru’s 17 being the next best score, leaving them at 147. England made the chase look like a warm-up.
Sophia Dunkley was on another level, smashing an unbeaten career-best 81 off 56 balls. She teamed up with Danielle Wyatt-Hodge for a 51-run opening stand, and after losing Wyatt-Hodge and Nat Sciver-Brunt, Dunkley linked with Heather Knight, who dropped 43 not out off 27.
Their 94-run partnership sealed the deal with 21 balls to spare. Fans on Khelo Exchange were probably losing it over Matthews’ fireworks and England’s smooth chase.
