7 Shortcuts to Keep Up with Your Google Keep Notes

We always strive to be more efficient in accomplishing our tasks. When it comes to working with Google Workspace, Google Keep is one service that allows us to keep up with our tasks. If you too work with this note-taking service by Google, consider employing these shortcuts to use Keep efficiently.
Shortcut #1 - Open Google Keep
There are multiple ways to open Google Keep however, the easiest one is ‘note.new’
Steps to open Google keep using this shortcut -
Open the browser
Enter ‘note.new’ in the address bar
Hit enter
Note: Before hitting enter, make sure you are logged into your Google account.
Google Keep will open (as shown below) along with a new note ready to be composed.
Shortcut #2 - Compose a New Note
Follow the steps below and start composing a new note by pressing just one key -
Open Google Keep
Press ‘C’ to compose a new NOTE as shown below
Let’s add names of a few names to this note. We will use this note for next shortcuts.
Shortcut #3 - Compose a New List
Like a new note, compose a new list by pressing just one key i.e., ‘L’
Steps to create a List -
Open Google Keep
Press ‘L’ to compose a new List as shown below
Let’s create a new list of students. Also, the note we created previously can be transformed into a list of students by using Ctrl + Shift + 8.
And here's the list.
Shortcut #4 - Indent a List
Indenting a list in Google Keep is a cakewalk. Use ‘CTRL + ]’ to indent our list of students that we created earlier.
Add headings (Format > Paragraph styles) and they will appear in your table of contents.
Steps to segregate names of the students -
Click the first name under Grade 1 i.e., Andrea
Press ‘CTRL + ]’
Andrea is indented under Grade 1 as shown below
Use ‘CTRL + ]’ to indent other names as well
Indenting made a clear differentiation between students belong to Grade 1 and Grade 2.
Shortcut #5 - Rearranging Lists
To move lists up and down, follow the below steps:
Open the Note
Select the list that needs to be moved
Use Shift+N to move Grade1 down
- Use Shift+P to move Grade 1 up
Shortcut #6 - Adding a label
Labels make it quite easy to sort notes in Keep. We can use ‘#’ to create labels instead of ‘Add label’ option.
Steps to create labels using ‘#’ -
Click anywhere in the note (make sure nothing is selected)
Type ‘#’ followed by the name of the label to be created e.g., test in the below image
Click ‘+ Create Label: test’
Label names test is created (highlighted in Red)
Follow the below steps and add ‘test’ label to any of your notes.
Open a Note
Type #
Choose ‘test’ from the list of existing labels
Shortcut #7 - Archive a Note
At times, having too many notes can be overwhelming, so just hide it from the main view. You can do it with the archive option. To archive a note, select it and press the ‘e’ key.
Steps to archive a note -
Select a note
Press ‘E’
The note will be added to the ‘Archive’ folder
