PM Modi Launches ₹82,000 Crore Development Push During Two-Day Gujarat Visit

Vadodara, Gujarat – Prime Minister Narendra Modi returned to his home state of Gujarat on May 26 for a two-day visit, marking his first appearance in the state since the conclusion of Operation Sindoor. His visit is packed with the launch of transformative infrastructure and public welfare projects totaling a massive ₹82,000 crore.

Grand Welcome with Roadshows in Vadodara and Gandhinagar

Modi's visit began with a vibrant roadshow in Vadodara, where thousands lined the streets to greet him. Visuals of the event flooded social media as supporters showered flower petals while the Prime Minister waved to cheering crowds.

Later in the evening, Modi led a 3-km roadshow in Ahmedabad from the airport to Indira Bridge, with over 50,000 BJP workers and citizens turning out in support. The Prime Minister is scheduled to stay overnight at Raj Bhavan in Gandhinagar.

On May 27, he will hold a 2-km roadshow in Gandhinagar, where 30,000 party workers are expected to participate.


Day 1: Railways, Vande Bharat, and Clean Drinking Water in Dahod

The Prime Minister’s itinerary on May 26 began in Dahod, where he inaugurated the Loco Manufacturing Shop-Rolling Stock Workshop, a major initiative under the ‘Make in India’ campaign. He also laid the foundation for a slew of railway and development projects worth ₹24,000 crore.

Modi also flagged off the Somnath–Ahmedabad Vande Bharat train, underscoring the central government’s commitment to modernizing India's rail network. Additionally, he launched a railway production unit in Dahod, valued at ₹21,000 crore.

Four drinking water improvement group schemes were also inaugurated in Mahisagar and Dahod, costing ₹181 crore. These schemes will provide clean drinking water at 100 LPCD to 4.62 lakh residents across 193 villages and one town.


Day 2: Mega Infrastructure Push in Bhuj and Gandhinagar

On May 27, PM Modi will shift focus to Bhuj, unveiling and laying the foundation for projects worth ₹53,000 crore. These will span:

  • Kandla Port upgrades

  • Solar power plants

  • Transmission systems

  • Major road projects

Beneficiaries will include districts like Kutch, Jamnagar, Amreli, Junagadh, Gir Somnath, Ahmedabad, Tapi, and Mahisagar.

Later, at Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar, the Prime Minister will inaugurate and lay the foundation for development projects worth ₹5,536 crore. Key highlights include:

  • 22,055 houses under PM Awas Yojana, built at a cost of ₹1,006 crore

  • Phase 3 of the Sabarmati Riverfront, with a budget of ₹1,000 crore

  • Distribution of ₹3,300 crore to urban local bodies under the Swarnim Jayanti Mukhyamantri Shaheri Vikas Yojana
