IIM Calcutta Launches One-Year Executive Program in Public Policy and Management Starting July 2025

In a significant step toward strengthening governance and policy leadership in India, the Indian Institute of Management Calcutta (IIM Calcutta) has announced the launch of a new Executive Program in Public Policy and Management (EPPPM). The year-long program is scheduled to begin in July 2025 and is designed to equip professionals with the knowledge and skills required to shape effective public policy.

Empowering Future Policy Leaders

The EPPPM aims to empower professionals from diverse backgrounds—including government, private sector, international organizations, and civil society—with a nuanced understanding of policymaking, implementation, and analysis. The initiative aligns with the growing demand for leaders capable of tackling complex societal challenges through strategic governance and evidence-based policy design.

According to IIM Calcutta, the program offers a blend of theoretical frameworks and practical tools to enhance the policymaking process. It will provide insights into innovative practices and address key issues affecting India and the global landscape.

Key Objectives of the Program

The curriculum is structured to:

  • Introduce participants to core concepts and models in policy design and evaluation.

  • Highlight best practices in public policy formulation and governance.

  • Examine current and emerging policy challenges at national and international levels.

  • Train participants in using management techniques to improve policy outcomes and institutional efficiency.

Target Audience

The program is particularly suited for mid-career and senior-level professionals with a minimum of three years of experience. IIM Calcutta is targeting a diverse set of participants from:

  • State and central government services, including IAS officers.

  • Embassy and foreign service personnel.

  • Faculty at administrative training institutions.

  • Professionals in public sector enterprises.

  • Members of multilateral organizations such as the UN, World Bank, and ADB.

  • NGOs, think tanks, and consulting firms.

  • Entrepreneurs and senior executives in the corporate sector.

Program Format and Fees

The executive program will run over 12 months, with classes held weekly on Saturdays from 6:45 PM to 9:45 PM. This flexible schedule is designed to accommodate working professionals.

The total fee for the program is ₹3,35,000 plus applicable GST.
