How to Make Your First Jupiter Swap – A Beginner’s Guide Using Jup Mobile

So you’ve heard of Jupiter maybe on Twitter, maybe from the last post, or maybe from someone yelling “LFG” with no context.

But here’s the real reason it matters:
Jupiter is Solana’s universal swap layer. It searches across every major DEX and routes your trade through the fastest and cheapest path automatically.

Now, thanks to Jup Mobile, you don’t need a separate wallet, browser extension, or even a laptop to start swapping. Just a phone, some SOL, and a few taps.

Let’s walk you through your first Jupiter-powered swap using the official app.

What You’ll Need to Start

  1. Jup Mobile App
→ Download it from https://jup.ag/mobile for iOS or Android.

  2. A bit of SOL→ Jupiter runs on Solana. You’ll need a small amount of SOL to pay network fees (less than a penny).

  3. That’s it.
Jup Mobile includes a built-in wallet. You won’t need Phantom, Backpack, or any browser based tools

  4. A stable internet connection to ensure smooth transactions.

Note: Always verify you’re using the official Jup Mobile app and the correct Jupiter website (https://jup.ag/). Beware of phishing scams and fake apps.

Step-by-Step: Your First Swap on Jup Mobile

Step 1: Open the App & Set Up Your Wallet

  • On first launch, you’ll be prompted to create a wallet.

  • Follow the instructions and secure your seed phrase.

  • Once done, you’ll land on the Jupiter dashboard.

Step 2: Fund Your Wallet with SOL

To perform swaps on Jupiter, you need SOL for transaction fees (typically a fraction of a cent) and the tokens you want to swap. Here’s how to fund your wallet:

  1. Buy SOL: Purchase SOL on a centralized exchange like Coinbase, Binance, or Kraken.

  2. Transfer SOL: Send SOL to your Jup Mobile wallet address:

    • In Jup Mobile, tap “Wallet” to view your Solana address.

    • Copy the address and use it as the recipient address on the exchange.

    • Double-check the address to avoid errors, as blockchain transactions are irreversible.

  3. Confirm Receipt: Wait a few minutes for the SOL to appear in your Jup Mobile wallet. Solana transactions are typically fast due to the blockchain’s high speed.

Step 3: Tap on “Swap”

  • From the home screen, hit the “Swap” tab.

  • Choose the token you want to swap from (usually SOL) and to (e.g. USDC, JUP, BONK).

Step 4: Enter the Amount

  • Type how much you want to swap.

  • The app will instantly find the best route even if it needs to split across multiple DEXs.

Step 5: Confirm the Swap

  • Review the slippage, fees, and estimated output.

  • Tap “Swap”, approve the transaction and boom.

  • Your new token should appear in your wallet in seconds.

Bonus Tips

  • Slippage: Stick with 0.5–1% for stablecoins and popular tokens. Go higher (2–5%) for degen coins or low-liquidity pairs.

  • Token Not Showing? Add it manually by searching the token address.

  • Use SOL for fees: Keep at least 0.01–0.02 SOL in your wallet so you’re never stuck.

💬 Frequently Asked

“Is Jup Mobile safe?”
Yes. It’s non-custodial, your keys, your coins. Just be sure to back up your recovery phrase.

“Can I use other wallets?”
Yes, Jupiter on web (jup.ag) supports other wallets. But for beginners, Jup Mobile is faster, safer, and easier.

“Why not use CEXs?”
Because this is crypto. On Jupiter, you hold your own keys, swap directly from wallet, and skip the middlemen.
