Today was all about gaining a deeper understanding of the JA Advanced Migration Tool through our first mentor meeting. Here’s what we covered, what I learned, and where we're heading next.

🔑 Key Points

  • We're targeting WordPress as the first platform for migration using its JSON export.

  • Emphasis on supporting Advanced Custom Fields (ACF) in the export — further research needed.

  • Architecture will include:

    • A core component to handle data imports via a standard content model.

    • Plugins for specific platforms to adapt unique data formats.

  • Move toward JSON over XML/CSV, ideally using schema.org structure for content .

Action Items

  1. Connect with GSoC API project by 30-May

  2. Sketch/outline architecture ideas by 30-May

  3. Team to prepare thoughts on project plan/schedule by 30-May
