RCB captain Rajat Patidar has made it clear that the team is fully committed to winning their maiden title for Virat Kohli.

Patidar’s Mission: Win the Title for Virat Kohli

Virat Kohli continues to be the heart and soul of Royal Challengers Bengaluru, even after stepping down from captaincy post-IPL 2021. His influence and legacy remain strong, with teammates holding immense respect for his loyalty and contributions to both RCB and Indian cricket. Having served the franchise for 18 years, Kohli’s commitment has inspired generations of players in the RCB camp.

Now, as RCB prepare for their first IPL final in nine years, captain Rajat Patidar has made it clear—the team is on a mission to win the elusive title for Kohli. “We will try and win this for him,” said Patidar ahead of the showdown against Punjab Kings. “He has done so well for India and RCB over the years.”

RCB have reached the final three times in the past but are yet to lift the trophy. In his debut season as captain, Patidar has impressed with his calm leadership and tactical awareness in crunch moments. Despite the weight of expectations, the middle-order batter remains focused.

“Expectations come naturally, especially when you’re leading a team like RCB in a final,” he said. “But I always focus on what’s in my control and try to stay in the present. This captaincy journey has been a great learning experience for me.”

“Wherever we go, we feel that the crowd is a home ground”

The “Kohli factor” continues to be a driving force behind Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s massive fan support, even at away venues. Captain Rajat Patidar acknowledged how the overwhelming backing often makes them feel like they’re playing at home, no matter the location.

“Wherever we go, we feel that the crowd is a home ground for us, given the way they’ve shown love and support over the years,” Patidar said.

RCB and Punjab Kings have already locked horns three times this season. While Punjab clinched the first contest, Bengaluru roared back with two commanding wins, including a morale-boosting victory in Qualifier 1. However, with both teams eyeing their first-ever IPL title, the final presents a whole new challenge—one where past performances take a back seat, and handling pressure becomes the key.
