Cipher's Log: Introduction

Intro

Hello everyone, I am Bornov (or WizB if you prefer that). I am an ECE undergrad student at NIT Silchar and after exploring different fields during my first year, the idea of Cybersecurity and more specifically Red Teaming just clicked with me. I had started learning the basics a while back but did not document it, but recently I got this urge to document my learning journey to connect with folks with similar interest and maybe one day look back or even help some wandering soul who stumbles upon it, so I decided to start this series of "blogs" called "Cipher's Log" where I will be writing about my experience with learning and using different stuff and also dropping some tips that I discover myself or from some ancient reddit post.

This is my attempt to document the grind—from figuring out why my payload won’t run, to those rare moments where everything just clicks.

It’s chaotic, it’s honest, and it’s mine.

🔍 What This Blog Will Be

  • Honest writeups (TryHackMe, HTB, CTFs, real-world stuff later)

  • Notes, rabbit holes, half-working payloads

  • Occasional philosophy, because I overthink everything (duh)

This isn’t a tutorial blog. It’s a journey log. Some days you’ll find clean walkthroughs. Other days, you’ll find me ranting about how I forgot to sudo again 😩 Or just venting into the void about imposter syndrome and packet captures.

Why I’m Doing This

I’m learning in public. For real. No polished guru act here. Just raw progress, missteps, late-night wins, and all the mental clutter that comes with it.

If you’re on the same path, maybe this helps.
If you’re ahead of me, drop some wisdom.
If you’re just curious, welcome to the chaos.

Let’s break stuff, fix stuff, and overthink every bit of it.
