A tragic stampede during Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s (RCB) victory celebrations on June 4 claimed the lives of 11 people. Following the incident, Bengaluru police arrested an employee of the RCB franchise—specifically, the Head of Marketing and Revenue—in connection with the case.

The celebrations were held after RCB, led by Rajat Patidar, clinched the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 title by defeating Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the final on June 3. To mark the occasion, the franchise and the Karnataka State Cricket Association organized a victory parade and a felicitation ceremony in Bengaluru the next day.

The parade took place near the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, and the players were honored inside the venue. However, due to mismanagement, a stampede broke out near one of the stadium gates. Eleven people were killed, and many others sustained injuries. In response, police registered cases against the franchise and the event management company, DNA Entertainment.

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has ordered the arrest of an employee of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in connection with the recent stampede incident in Bengaluru. In addition to the RCB staffer, the CM has also directed action against DNA Entertainment, the event management company involved. Consequently, Bengaluru police have arrested DNA Entertainment’s senior event manager and vice president of Business Affairs.

Notably, CM Siddaramaiah had earlier participated in RCB’s victory celebrations. Prior to the felicitation event at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, the Chief Minister and other dignitaries had honoured the team at Vidhan Soudha.

The state government later clarified that it was not responsible for organizing the event and had only felicitated the team as a gesture of support for the Bengaluru-based franchise. In the aftermath of the stampede, the Chief Minister also visited the hospital to meet the injured.

In response to the tragedy, RCB extended condolences to the victims on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) and announced a financial assistance of ₹10 lakh to the families of those who lost their lives.
