Day 6 of My Self-Taught AI Journey — An Honest Beginning

Hey everyone 👋

Today marks day 6 of my self-taught AI journey, and I’ve decided to start blogging every day to stay motivated, accountable, and maybe—just maybe—inspire a few others walking a similar path.

A Bit About Me

I recently graduated with a Bachelor's in Science, scoring a 9.31 GPA. My core subjects were chemistry, nutrition and public health, and botany. Alongside academics, I was deeply involved in extracurriculars—once even serving as the president of the Rotaract Club at my college. I loved being active, leading initiatives, and contributing to my campus community.

Despite being a good student on paper, I felt incredibly unclear about my future. I liked my subjects, but not enough to make a lifelong career out of them. I craved a job that would feed my always-curious brain, keep me excited to wake up, and feel both intellectually rewarding and respected.

I once considered chemistry—it’s curious and layered—but the draining practical lab hours made me doubt it. Then I looked toward international relations (thanks to my leadership skills and people-oriented mindset), but knowing myself—possibly with undiagnosed ADHD—I realized that such emotionally demanding roles could quickly lead to burnout. I couldn’t picture myself in that world for long.

From Feeling Lost to Finding a Spark

Honestly, I felt lost. I thought maybe I was just a failure who missed the train.

Then, one random night, I stumbled across a few YouTube vlogs of software engineers. Their world fascinated me. That spark led me down a rabbit hole—first into coding, then into artificial intelligence.

That’s when it hit me: AI isn't just a buzzword—it feels like magic to the untrained eye. And I wanted to break down that magic. I wanted to understand it, create it, be a part of it.

Why AI? Why Me?

I didn’t want to spend another 4 years pursuing a traditional engineering degree. So, I made a decision: I’ll teach myself.

Because I believe in the power of curiosity—and I’ve got a lot of it. I’ve always had a knack for analytical thinking, logical reasoning, and problem-solving. These strengths, I believe, are the core of what makes someone thrive in tech—and especially in AI.

Even now, I’m not completely sure this is the right path. I’m not a naturally decisive person. But somewhere deep inside, something whispers: it makes sense now.

And that’s enough for me to keep going.

My Plan

I’ve designed a 5-month roadmap (which might extend to 7 months realistically), filled with structured learning, hands-on practice, and consistent progress. This blog will be my space to track that journey daily.

Some days I’ll win, some days I’ll wobble—but I’m showing up. Every day.

Why This Blog?

This isn’t just for sharing progress. This is my reminder to stay disciplined, my proof that I started, and my way of keeping the fire alive.

And if you’re reading this and feel even a little bit inspired—then it’s doing its job.

So wish me luck.

Let’s see where this road leads.

Until tomorrow,

Future AI engineer
