How Internet Works?

How does the Internet Work? What are the Servers?
The internet is a vast, global network that connects millions of computers and devices, allowing them to communicate and share information. It's essentially a "network of networks," built upon a complex infrastructure and a set of rules called protocols.
Here's a breakdown of how it works:
The Physical Infrastructure:
Imagine a massive web of connections spanning the globe.3 This physical infrastructure includes:
Cables:
Fiber-optic cables: These are the "backbone" of the internet, transmitting data at incredibly high speeds using light signals.
They run across continents and even under oceans (subsea cables), connecting major network hubs.
Coaxial and copper cables: Used for connecting homes and businesses to the internet, often part of existing telephone or cable TV networks.
Wireless Technologies:
Cellular towers: Enable mobile internet access by transmitting data via radio waves (4G, 5G).
Satellites: Provide internet access to remote areas where physical cables aren't feasible, though traditional satellites can have higher latency (lag)
Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellites are reducing this.
Routers and Switches: These are like traffic controllers.
Routers: Forward data packets between different networks, finding the most efficient path.
Switches: Link devices within a single network (like your home Wi-Fi network).
Data Centers and Servers:
Servers: Powerful computers that store websites, applications, and other data.
When you access a website, your device (client) requests information from a server.
Data Centers: Large facilities designed to house and maintain thousands of servers, ensuring they run 24/7 with redundant power, cooling, and network connections.
What are servers?
A Server is basically a computer that has only one purpose ie to serve the client based on the request by the client itself. and these types of servers can be further classified as:
Web Server
Application Server
Email Server [and etc.
