‘Neither Gill, nor Nair’, India’s former batting coach chose this batsman at number-3

The team led by Shubman Gill is set to play a five-match Test series.
Team India is currently on a tour of England and the team led by Shubman Gill is ready to play a five-match Test series. Before the start of the series, the head coach gave a special message to the team. Meanwhile, former India batting coach Sanjay Bangar believes that neither Shubman Gill nor Karun Nair should bat at number 3 during the England Test series.
Bangar feels that Shubman Gill can play at number four. In this way, he can fill the vacant space after the retirement of veteran Virat Kohli. Apart from this, he suggested playing Sai Sudarshan or Abhimanyu Easwaran at number three.
Gill can bat at number-4- Sanjay Bangar
According to India Today, Bangar said, ‘Neither of them (Gill or Karun at No. 3?) in my opinion. If Karun is playing, he will bat in the lower order. There are also indications that Shubman Gill can bat at No. 4. So, there will be a toss between Sai Sudharsan and Abhimanyu Easwaran for No. 3. Easwaran also scored well in one of the practice matches.’
He further said, ‘I don’t think there will be any difference in this. One of these two will play at number-3. Shubman Gill will be at number-4 and Rishabh Pant at number-5 and Karun Nair at number-6. This is how I understand the situation.’
Talking about the bowling lineup, Jasprit Bumrah is set to start and he may be joined by Mohammad Siraj and Prasidh Krishna. Arshdeep Singh and Akash Deep would like to do well in the intra-squad match in Kent.
Nitish Kumar Reddy and Shardul Thakur are the two seam-bowling all-rounders in the team. Both of them performed well in the two unofficial Tests between India A and England Lions. Either one of them may get a chance. The first Test will start at Headingley, Leeds from Friday 20 June.
