What Makes A Machine Made Wig Look Fake?

I have a deep understanding of the fact that machine-made wigs look fake. When I first came into contact with wigs, I thought machine-made wigs were cost-effective, so I bought one to try. As soon as I put it on, my roommate laughed at me: "This hairstyle looks like a character in a cartoon." I couldn't believe my eyes in the mirror. So, what makes machine-made wigs look so "fake"?
The hairline is too stiff.
Machine made wigs often fall short at the hairline. Because they are sewn by machines, the hairline looks very regular and does not have the natural transition of real hair. The hairline of my machine-made wig is like a clear arc, and you can see the word "wig" at a glance. Later, I changed to a hand-crocheted wig, and the hairline is much more natural, especially the style with lace design, such as the 7x5 glue-free wig, which can really achieve the effect of "fake and real".
The wig material is too unreal
In order to save costs, many machine-made wigs are made of chemical fiber materials. Although it looks good from a distance, if you look closely, you will find that the hair is either shiny like plastic or dry like straw. And it feels bad to the touch, the hair is hard and easy to tangle. Later, I started to buy real human hair wigs, such as CurlyMe's real human hair glueless wigs, which not only feel good, but can also be permed and dyed at will, which completely solves this problem.
Uneven hair volume and density
It is difficult to achieve uniform hair volume distribution for machine-made wigs, especially the hair volume on the top of the head is usually too dense, and the hair tail looks thin. After wearing it, the whole head shape looks "bulgy", and it feels inconsistent no matter how you adjust it. Later, I tried OQ Hair's drawstring wig, which can be adjusted by yourself, and the hair volume is evenly distributed. It feels natural and comfortable to wear.
Limitations of sewing methods
The hair of machine-made wigs is sewn directly to the hat, so the wig as a whole will look stiff and inflexible. The hair of my machine-made wig is as rigid as a hat, and the bottom of the hat can be exposed with a slight movement. Handmade wigs are much better in this regard, especially wigs with 360 lace design, the hair can be parted at will, and it looks like hair growing on your own head.
Summary
Machine-made wigs look fake, mainly because they have obvious defects in hairline, material, hair distribution and sewing method. However, if the budget is limited, there is still some room for improvement in machine-made wigs, such as choosing a style with lace forehead, or using headbands and accessories to cover it. For me, the final solution is to buy a human hair drawstring 360 wig. Although the price is a bit higher, the natural effect and comfort it brings are really worth the money. If you have similar problems, you might as well try a high-quality handmade wig, which may make you shine!
