Now a player will be the head coach of Team India in place of Gautam Gambhir, will play an important role in the England series

Indian cricket team’s head coach Gautam Gambhir has returned to India from England due to his mother’s serious illness. He had to come to India immediately because his mother suffered a heart attack. Due to this, there were fears that the preparations for the England tour would be affected, but the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has taken immediate steps to avoid this.
VVS Laxman will take over coaching responsibilities
In Gambhir’s absence, National Cricket Academy (NCA) head VVS Laxman will handle the Indian team’s preparations. Laxman is currently in London, where he is also working with the Under-19 team. He will remain with the senior team until Gambhir returns to England. Gambhir is expected to return on June 17 or 18. Laxman has previously guided the Indian team in the T20 series against South Africa, which India won.
Test series and challenges against England
The five-Test series against England is going to start from June 20. The Indian team is facing many challenges on this tour, as many senior players like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and R Ashwin have retired from Test cricket. Apart from this, Jasprit Bumrah is unlikely to play all the matches. In this series, Shubman Gill will captain the Test team for the first time, while Rishabh Pant will play the role of vice-captain.
Pressure on the new team, BCCI’s confidence
This Indian team adorned with new players will face a tough challenge in England. Gambhir’s absence was considered a setback, but the presence of BCCI and Laxman will speed up the preparations. According to a report by RevSportz, the team will be prepared for the Test series under the experienced supervision of Laxman, so that Shubman Gill and company can perform better on this tour.
