The Inspiration for My Software Development Blog: My Personal Journey

I was at a crossroads and unsure of what to do with my career.
Pursuing a path in my first degree—Parasitology—felt like a dead end. My experiences in that field weren’t fulfilling, and landing a job as a research associate or lecturer, which I had once hoped for, just wasn’t happening.
Although I had gathered several years of experience, it was mainly in administrative roles. Deep down, I knew I needed something new—a career shift, a fresh start, and a chance to become a professional in a field with more growth and possibility.
That’s when I stumbled into tech.
During my research, I discovered that many people were successfully transitioning into tech without any prior knowledge of computer science or related degrees. That gave me hope and the courage to try.
At first, I leaned toward Data Analysis because of its connection to my science background. But I wanted something more challenging. A dear friend recommended Software Development. I had never heard of it before and knew absolutely nothing about it—apart from guessing it involved developing software. Still, the idea intrigued me.
So, I dove in. I researched like crazy:
How do I start a career in software development? Should I attend a bootcamp, take online courses, or pursue a degree in computer science (my least favorite option)?
Eventually, I began reading and learning as much as I could to prepare my mind for the journey. I then enrolled in a 3-month course on Front-End Web Development, which gave me a solid foundation and a clear starting point.
Now, I’m continuing to learn on my own—using amazing resources that I’ll be sharing in my next blog post.
