Can dry cleaning remove stains?

Yes, dry cleaning can effectively remove many types of stains, but its success depends on the stain type, fabric, and how long the stain has been present. Dry cleaning uses chemical solvents instead of water, making it particularly effective for removing oil-based stains like grease, makeup, and ink. These solvents dissolve oils and fats that regular water-based washing might not.
However, dry cleaning may not always be as effective on water-based stains like coffee, wine, or sweat. Professional dry cleaners often pre-treat these stains before the dry cleaning process to improve removal. If a stain has set deeply into the fabric or has been left untreated for too long, it may be harder to remove completely.
To maximize the chances of stain removal, it’s best to take the garment to a dry cleaner as soon as possible and inform them about the stain’s origin. Some delicate fabrics, such as silk and wool, benefit from dry cleaning over traditional washing methods.
