India is a global agricultural hub and a leading nation in agriculture. Nearly half of the country is connected to farming, and 70% of the country's population depends on agriculture for their livelihood. Agriculture in India is an essential source of raw materials and the most significant agro-based industry, like tea, fruits, vegetables, sugarcane, wheat, and rice.
Around 65% of the population is directly connected to agriculture, and 18% of GDP comes from indian farming. Agriculture is the prime source of revenue for the government. In 2022, agribusinesses exported $52.50 billion. It has increased the chance of employment opportunities in the country.
NMSA is a government sector that helps improve farming productivity, dry regions for irrigation, and enhance soil condition.
PMKSY is a scheme that ensures water management and harvesting so that farmers have better access to irrigation water for farming.
PMFBY is an insurance policy that economically supports farmers
if any cash of agricultural loss due to calamities, pests, and diseases. PM Kisan Yojna supports the farmers with the amount of 6000 rupees every year in 3 instalments.
