Bengal Pro T20 League 2025: A Deep Dive into Bengal's Cricketing Spectacle

The Bengal Pro T20 League (BPL T20) is back for its second season in 2025, offering a platform for Bengal's domestic talent as well as another exciting exhibition of T20 cricket. Organized by the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB), this league has quickly established itself as a significant event in the Indian domestic cricket calendar, running concurrently for both men's and women's editions.
The Bengal Pro T20 League's 2025 season began on June 11 and will end on June 28. The women's event is taking place at the Jadavpur University Campus Stadium in Salt Lake, while the men's matches are taking place at Kolkata's famous Eden Gardens. The league stage of both events, which includes 28 matches each, uses a single round-robin structure. With the grand finals set for June 28, the top four teams from the league round will advance to the semi-finals on June 26. Last year's inaugural men's final saw the Sobisco Smashers Malda and Murshidabad Kings crowned joint-champions due to rain, while Lux Shyam Kolkata won the women's title. This year, all teams are vying to claim the coveted trophy outright.
The league has attracted a mix of established national and state-level players, alongside promising young talents. Notable names participating in the men's tournament include Mohammed Shami (playing for Shrachi Rarh Tigers), Shahbaz Ahmed (Shrachi Rarh Tigers), Anustup Majumdar (Servotech Siliguri Strikers), Sudip Chatterjee (Rashmi Medinipur Wizards), and Manoj Tiwary (Harbour Diamonds). Their presence not only adds star power but also provides invaluable experience for emerging cricketers. In addition to adding star power, their presence gives up-and-coming cricket players priceless experience. The depth of potential in Bengali cricket is demonstrated by players like pace bowler Kanishk Seth and Karan Lal, who made an impression in SMAT 2024–25.
Currently, Abhishek Porel from Lux Shyam Kolkata Tigers is the leading run scorer of the tournament. He has scored 141 runs in 4 matches, with 1 half-century. He played with an Average of 35.25 and a strike rate of 136.89. He has also smashed 13 fours and 04 sixes in the tournament. He will want to continue his excellent form in the upcoming cricket matches of the BPL T20 2025. On the other hand, in the Bowling Department, Murshidabad Kings’ Sayed Irfan Aftab is currently the leading wicket-taker of the tournament, with 10 wickets in 5 matches, including a 4-wicket haul.
