My DX Mentorship Journey (Cohort 4)

Introduction
The DX Mentorship Program is a 90-day bootcamp designed to kickstart or scale your career in Developer Relations(Devrel). It is a practical journey into the DevRel world while being mentored by industry experts, real-world scenarios, hands-on practice, and mentorship that equips you with the confidence to own your space in DevRel.
I joined out of curiosity and a desire to explore beyond traditional software development. I’d been hearing a lot about DevRel and wanted to understand what it really means.
I wanted to improve my writing. I’ve always admired people who can clearly express technical thoughts and ideas. That was a major motivation for me.
My mindset? Show up. Give it my best. See it through.
And I did — which is why I’m writing this review now 😂.
Highlights From The Journey
Over the course of 100 days, these stood out for me:
9 sessions with different industry experts
DevRel Foundations - Ekene Eze
Devrel and future technologies - Adewale Abatti
Getting a job in DevRel - Tessa Mero
Video and interactive content for developers - Jason Lengston
Developer experience - Darko Bozhinovski
AI Technologies for Devrels - Tejas Kumar
Modern community building - Joshua Omobola(Koha)
Dev marketing and content strategy for Devrels - Williams Imoh
Building in public for Devrels - Ekene Eze
Personal Tasks
These covered various aspects of DevRel and pushed me to level up my writing, especially in technical contexts.

Community and Connections
Connected with some amazing people and built friendships I genuinely value.
Our weekly Friday mentee hangouts with Koha were a vibe. I wish we could keep them going. We had real convos, honest advice, and truthfully... Koha was our unofficial therapist 😂
Favourite Moments
While I enjoyed every part of the sessions and the tasks, these are my favourite moments:
The clan task: Manage the community for a week.
While managing the community for the week, our main engagement strategy was to create a knowledge base on DevRel best practices, guides, and resources in the field of Developer Relations. We made it open-source and encouraged the community to contribute to the knowledge base. It was very exciting working with my clan members on the project.
You can also contribute to the knowledge, also don't forget to leave a star
The weekly mentees connect with Koha
Every Friday, we always have a different range of discussions and advice on how best we can navigate our way as aspiring Devrels.
The graduation ceremony
Finishing the program strong wasn’t something I thought was possible for me, but it happened. From the final review of all we covered to being handed a practical 90-day roadmap for what comes next, everything felt intentional and empowering.
And yes, the valedictorian was from my clan, I just have to flex that 😂
I’m leaving this program fired up, equipped, and ready to make a real impact in the DevRel space, not someday, but starting now.
Why should anyone join the next cohort?
Honestly, this is the best place to have a hindsight of what Devrel is all about, you will get different correct opinions from different industry experts on what Devrel is really about, by doing the tasks and clan tasks, you will have quite the experience you need to start something and know where your strength mainly lies. This program didn’t just teach me about DevRel. It gave me community.
Conclusion
This program gave me more than expected; it gave me skills, community and confidence. If you are thinking about joining the next cohort, don’t overthink it, show up, be real and experience growth.
