Building a SaaS Product with No Revenue Yet: What I’m Learning Before Launch

I haven’t launched anything yet.

Not because I’m lazy. Not because I’ve given up.
But because I’m still figuring it out.

Still talking to people.
Still testing ideas.
Still making mistakes I didn’t know existed a month ago.

And honestly? I think that’s okay.

I Thought I’d Be Further by Now

When I started this journey, I thought I’d ship fast.

An MVP in a couple of weeks.
Some quick traction.
Maybe even a paying user or two.

But reality hit differently.

I ended up posting in subreddits, tweeting questions, rewriting my landing page copy 10+ times, and asking myself every day:

  • Does this even solve a real problem?

  • Will anyone care?

  • Would I even pay for this?

Some days feel like running in circles.
Other days, one small comment gives me enough clarity to keep going.

I Haven’t Made a Rupee Yet — But I’m Still Showing Up

Let’s be real: I’ve made ₹0 from my product so far.

But I’m not chasing money yet — I’m chasing signal.

And I’ve seen glimpses of it:

  • Someone asking for early access

  • A tweet that sparked DMs

  • A comment that made me rethink the core value

I’m not launching blindly this time. I’m listening before I build.

I’ve Learned More From Conversations Than From Code

As a dev, my instinct is to open VS Code and just start building.

But these past few months have taught me:
Talking to real people saves you from building the wrong thing.

So instead of rushing features, I’ve:

  • Validated ideas on Reddit and X

  • Asked open-ended questions

  • Shared product sketches and raw thoughts

  • Accepted brutal feedback and used it

I Still Don’t Know Exactly What I’m Building

The ideas I’ve tested:

  • AI Headshot Generator

  • Carousel Creator for social content

  • AI Document Assistant (like ChatGPT for files)

What I’ve realized is: it’s not about “the idea” — it’s about what people actually want to pay for.

I’m okay with pivoting.
I’m okay with restarting.
What I’m not okay with is building something no one needs.

If You’re In This Phase Too — I See You

That in-between phase where:

  • You’re not launched

  • You’re not making money

  • But you’re working every day anyway

That phase is real. And worth sharing, even when it’s quiet.

Final Thoughts

No revenue yet.
No public launch.
No massive traction.

But I’m learning.
I’m talking.
I’m writing this blog.
I’m showing up.

And sometimes, that’s enough.

If you're in this same phase — validating, building, unsure — feel free to drop a comment or DM. I’d love to hear your story too.
