My Unforgettable Experience at PyCon Singapore

Last week, I had the incredible opportunity to attend PyCon Singapore—not just as a keynote speaker but also as a first-time facilitator for the ‘Introduction to Python’ workshop!
In my keynote, "No Degree, No Bootcamp, No Problem: My Unconventional Tech Journey," I pulled back the curtain on:
The harsh realities of job hunting without a "traditional" tech background
How I turned freelance gigs and failed projects into a thriving career—despite the odds
The unspoken biases in hiring (and how to navigate them anyway)
Why resilience and relationships often matter more than credentials
This wasn’t a sugarcoated success story. It was a roadmap for the underdogs, the self-taught, and the overlooked. If you’ve ever been told tech isn’t for you—this talk was your proof that it absolutely is.

The next day, I had the chance to guide over 20 participants through an Introduction to Python workshop. The group was a vibrant mix—students exploring a new language, career switchers taking a leap, and curious minds just soaking up the vibes.
Teaching technical concepts was more challenging than I expected—what came naturally to me wasn’t always easy to break down for others. But we dove into Python basics together: data types, variables, print()
statements, loops (for & while), and more. To make it interactive, I designed a hands-on case activity where participants built their own budget tracker and even coded a Rock, Paper, Scissors game!
I’d love to hear your thoughts: How could I improve the workshop? What topics would you like me to cover next? Drop a comment below or DM me—I’m all ears!
P.S. I’m currently job hunting (hire me! 👀) and diving deep into geospatial data analysis. Let’s connect!

I’m Aishwarya—an engineer, educator, and explorer of automation, cloud, and maps. I started with Python scripts that simplified daily tasks. That curiosity evolved into full-stack apps, CI/CD pipelines, and geospatial workflows mapping national parks in Vietnam. I’ve trained deep learning models on satellite data, built dashboards for stakeholder reporting, and constructed ETL pipelines that saved hundreds of hours. But what I’m most proud of is sharing the process—through workshops, mentoring, and writing. On this blog, I explore topics like Python automation, spatial data analysis, AWS cloud engineering, developer education, and scaling knowledge through storytelling. If you're into geospatial tech, hands-on data work, or simply learning how to learn—welcome aboard.
