From Confused to Confident: How I Learned HTML in One Week

When I first started learning HTML, I felt overwhelmed. I followed many YouTube channels and tutorials, but I couldn’t retain much. It felt like I was swimming in a sea of information without a clear direction.

But then everything changed.

My Learning Routine

I discovered a fantastic creator, Anurag Singh (anuragsinghprocodrr), whose tutorials broke down HTML concepts clearly and practically. His teaching style helped me actually remember what I was learning instead of just watching passively.

Every day for one week, I dedicated 1-2 hours to:

  • Watching his HTML tutorials

  • Practicing code on my own editor (VS Code)

  • Building small parts of a project step-by-step

The Project That Made It Real

Instead of just learning theory, I decided to build a simple personal portfolio webpage. It had:

  • A header with my name and navigation links

  • About me section

  • Projects showcase

  • Contact form

After finishing the code, I deployed my site on Netlify — seeing my work live on the internet was incredibly motivating.

Tools I Used

  • VS Code for coding

  • Netlify for free deployment

  • Google Chrome for testing and inspecting elements

Key Takeaways

  • Consistency beats intensity. Short daily sessions worked better than marathon study days.

  • Build as you learn. Projects make concepts stick.

  • Use good resources. Finding the right teacher (like Anurag Singh) made all the difference.

  • Deployment is empowering. Publishing my work online boosted my confidence and accountability.

No Turning Back

Once I saw my simple webpage live, there was no going back. The confusion turned into excitement and confidence. I’m now ready to learn CSS and JavaScript next — and keep building.

If you’re struggling with HTML, remember: it’s normal to feel lost at first. Find a teaching style that clicks for you, practice regularly, and build projects. You’ll go from confused to confident faster than you think!
