Our life is a scheduled job

Hi everyone,
Here's another article in the "ServiceNow is Life (Metaphorically)" series.

Our whole life is scripted around us—whether we realize it or not.

Think about it: from the moment we're born, we fit into a schedule.

  • 1 to 1.5 years to walk

  • 1+ years to start talking

Almost everyone follows this same sequence.

As we grow, we begin to gain experiences—some early, some late. Some experiences feel so specific, so timed, that they feel like fate.
Like a Canon Event, as referenced in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.

In the movie, each Spider-Person has defining events. Our lives aren't webbed together like theirs, but we do all go through eerily similar milestones—just not at the same time.

Some people finish college in their early twenties, get a job, buy a house, and settle down.
Others may start their education in their thirties. That doesn’t mean they’re behind.
It just means their Scheduled Job hasn't executed yet.

Everything happens at the right time.
Just remember: there’s a Scheduled Job running for you, and it will execute the right script when the time is right.

A Personal Canon Event:

Let me share something personal.
I completed college in 2022, but I didn’t land a job until 2023.

I had a few campus offers lined up, but due to personal and family matters, I couldn’t join any of them.
Meanwhile, most of my classmates got placed and started working right after graduation. Naturally, I felt insecure. Left behind.

But I waited.

And it was worth the wait.
I eventually landed a job that was far better than the ones I had previously turned down.

Maybe my Scheduled Job was just written this way.
Maybe its execution was delayed—for a reason.
But it ran when it was supposed to.

Developer Tip:

In ServiceNow, a Scheduled Job is a backend process that runs a script at a specific time.

  • It doesn’t execute early

  • It doesn’t miss its moment

  • It doesn’t care about what other jobs are doing

It simply runs when it’s supposed to.

Maybe life works the same way.
Maybe your script is still queued, and that’s okay.

Final Thought:

Don’t compare your schedule to others.

Your Scheduled Job is different.
It’s running on its own time.
Trust the script. Trust the process.
