Xiaomi has officially unveiled its second electric vehicle — the YU7, a mid-size crossover SUV that follows the buzzworthy launch of the SU7 sedan. Designed to compete directly with the Tesla Model Y, the YU7 blends performance, design, and interior innovation into what Xiaomi calls a “premium electric experience.”

🧩 Design: Low Drag, High Impact

With over 40 aerodynamic optimizations and a drag coefficient of just 0.245 Cd, the YU7 was built with airflow in mind. Its sculpted aluminum clamshell hood — the largest of any production vehicle at 3.11 m² — is not just for show; it directly contributes to reducing weight and increasing range.

Other features like frameless side mirrors, flush-mounted handles, and a 22° ducktail spoiler echo Xiaomi's attention to both form and function.

🖥 Interior Tech: Where HUD Meets Innovation

Inside the YU7, the focus shifts to futuristic tech. The highlight? A 1.1-meter-wide panoramic HUD called HyperVision, featuring three mini-LED panels with 1200-nit brightness and 903-zone local dimming. It replaces the traditional instrument cluster and displays everything from blind-spot views to media widgets.

✅ The panoramic HUD and rear seat control screen are likely powered by high-resolution [TFT displays designed for automotive HMI systems](https://tft-display.net/hmi-tft-panels/), delivering sharp visuals and low power consumption even in sunlight.

Rear passengers get a 6.68-inch touchscreen, while front seats are equipped with 10-point massage functions and zero-gravity recline. It's a luxury lounge on wheels.

⚡ Performance and Powertrain

The YU7 comes in three variants:

  • YU7: 235 kW rear motor, 96.3 kWh LFP battery, 835 km range

  • YU7 Pro: Adds a 130 kW front motor (total 365 kW), 770 km range

  • YU7 Max: Dual motors (508 kW total), 101.7 kWh NMC battery, 760 km range

Charging is no joke either: the Max variant can recharge 620 km of range in just 15 minutes.

🧠 Smart Driving with Xiaomi HAD

Xiaomi’s HAD system uses:

  • Roof-mounted LiDAR (200 m range)

  • 11 cameras + 12 ultrasonic sensors

  • Nvidia DRIVE AGX Thor-U chip with 700 TOPS

  • Dual 5G, unified ECU architecture

The vehicle's 4-in-1 computing module reduces weight and energy use, even extending EV range.

🛡️ Structural Integrity and Safety

With 90.2% high-strength steel & aluminum, torsional rigidity of 47,610 N·m/deg, and proprietary 2200 MPa door reinforcements, the YU7 doesn’t just go fast — it protects.

A 20-in-1 aluminum die-cast crash absorber, Brembo brakes, and air suspension with 75 mm adjustability round out the chassis features.

🎨 Color, Comfort, and Class

Available in 9 exterior colors and 3 interior themes (Twilight Blue, Coral Orange, Stone Grey/Pine Green), the YU7 mixes sleek design with OEKO-TEX-certified comfort.

🧭 Final Thoughts

The Xiaomi YU7 sets a high bar for what an electric SUV can offer — performance, luxury, and smart integration. With its TFT-based display system, next-gen driving tech, and rapid charging, it's not just challenging the Model Y — it's redefining the competition.
