Vibe coding a mini project through Google's Gemini cli.

The project.

Few days ago google announced their own competitor to Open code Gemini cli for free. so, i decided to give a try on it.

I made a mini project through the AI agent for the game ‘Sudoku’. I selected ‘python’ as my primary language. The project was just for understanding of the agent and it’s working. Well, it was able to make files and folders, editing the files, a little buggy code. At start, the AI was unable to make files and folders. It was having endless problems in doing so. Text inside button was overflowing, sudoku puzzles was unsolvable or we can say logic was little incorrect. It made a generate_sudoku.py file which had nothing inside it. A empty file!

Eventually, after many request prompts, hours of scratching my head and banging it on the table. All was sorted, the game worked! Later I introduced difficulty level, made UI/UX better. The project was success. now it is generating solvable puzzles of easy, medium and hard difficulty level.

My views on it

AI is a great technology until we use it as only a tool or as a Assistant. AI is now able to code games by it’s own but needs Human supervision till a great extent. The generated code is buggy and so, not perfect.

‘AI can take jobs of code writers but not code reviewers’.

It needs human supervision and guidance to work and write a great code. we need prompt engineers which will guide AI to write a great code. AI does write a good code only if guided correctly.

I have no interest in making the game publicly available for now. Also, i will be doing some bigger projects through vibe coding.

Thank you.
