Why I Hid My Code for Months . And What Happened When I Shared It

😰 The Fear I Had as a Beginner

When I started learning to code, I kept everything private.

No GitHub commits.
No LinkedIn updates.
No screenshots.
No “I’m learning dev” posts.

Why?

I was scared someone would see my code and say,
“You’re not a real developer.”

😔 What I Missed by Hiding

For months, I stayed silent.
I didn’t want to be judged but I also didn’t grow.

Because I didn’t:

  • Ask questions

  • Get feedback

  • Get encouragement

  • Find others like me

It felt like building in a dark room.

💥 One Day I Took a Risk

I posted a small update:

“Learning React. Still struggling with props. But showing up daily.”

People supported me.
Others related.
A few offered help.

That day, I learned:

Being vulnerable connects you with the right people.

🧠 Why You Should Build in Public

Building in public means:

  • Sharing your learning journey

  • Posting messy screenshots

  • Talking about bugs you’re fixing

  • Writing about how you're feeling

You don’t need to wait to be “good enough” to start.

🔁 From Today On, I’ll Share:

  • 🧩 What I’m learning

  • 🔧 What I’m fixing

  • 💬 What I’m struggling with

  • 🧠 What I’m realizing

Because someone out there needs to hear it too.

💬 Final Note

You are not a “wannabe.”
You’re a dev in progress.
Share the journey. Let people walk with you.
