Bolt.new free weekend, part 2

Building off of Bolt.new free weekend + the World’s Largest Hackathon presented by Bolt, part 1, I didn’t give up after a single failed application. And I have no shortage of random applications to develop!
Idea 2: Exporting geographical data to KML
So, this is actually an idea that came up in the context of my current gig. We’ve got an occasional need to create custom map layers within our proprietary application (am I being vague enough?!) but it doesn’t happen often enough for us to develop tooling to do it.
Introducing: AI
Once again, I took to ChatGPT to brainstorm approaches.
I knew I needed a KML export, and that my inputs would be street addresses. I knew I wanted it to be in Next.js and TailwindCSS because I already know those and wanted maintanbility. ChatGPT helped me determine what API to use for geosearching, and helped me refine my general feature set.
Together, we made the AI prompt to prompt all other AI prompts.
The results?
It worked! In under 10 iterations, we had a sweet but simple single page application that did (almost) exactly what we asked for.
And, with the help of Bolt.new, it came together (barely!) in time to submit the Hackathon project. Now, I don’t think I’m going to win the hackathon. But, I did walk away with a fast prototype my team could actually build on—and a pretty compelling AI use case in action.
