The Day I Realized "Tutorial Hell" Was My Own Trap

😖 I Was Watching, Not Building

I followed the rule:

“Learn before you build.”

So I kept watching tutorials.
And more tutorials.
Then another “5 hour crash course” on YouTube.

But I wasn’t getting better.

I was just copying and pausing… not understanding.

🔥 The Trap: Tutorial Hell

It felt safe:

  • No bugs to fix

  • No messy real code

  • No frustration

But it wasn’t real learning.
I knew the content but couldn’t apply it when the screen was blank.

💥 My Escape Plan

One night, I stopped watching and opened a new project folder.

No tutorial.
Just me, a blank file, and fear.

I built a todo app badly.
But I finished it. And that small win gave me the push I needed.

🧠 What I Now Know

You can’t learn coding by watching.
You learn by struggling.

Tutorials teach concepts.
Building teaches courage.

🧭 How to Escape Tutorial Hell

  1. Pick a simple project idea

  2. Start with what you know

  3. Google every error

  4. Get stuck and fight through

  5. Finish it even if it’s messy

Done > perfect.
Ugly code > no code.

💬 Final Thought

The screen won’t be perfect. The bugs will come.
But every app you build from scratch is one step closer to mastery.
