The Future is Agentic: Insights from the Google Cloud Summit Colombia

The recent Google Cloud Summit in Colombia was not just another tech event; it marked a milestone, a clear signal of where digital transformation is heading in Latin America. To better understand the experience and what it means for our clients and for FluentData, we spoke with our consultants, Julian Rodriguez and Juan Pablo Gálvez, who were on the front lines.
A Flawless Logistical Experience and the Power of Networking
When asked for their overall impression, beyond the initial excitement, both highlighted the organization. Juan Pablo mentioned:
"From a logistics standpoint, I thought it was excellent... the way each of the sections was laid out... it was very well organized."
He pointed out details like the reward system with passports and stamps, and the importance of limited capacity for better mobility and interaction. Although he suggested that some partner booths could have had a more direct focus on Google Cloud solutions.
Julian complemented this view, emphasizing the logistics of the talks:
"The logistics were great because they provided headphones, so you never missed a single detail at any moment."
He also noted the presence of established partners like Servinformación and uCloud, indicating that "by networking and understanding the types of solutions [they offer], that also helps us have a clearer focus on what we do at FluentData today."
Networking was a strong point. Juan Pablo told us about a particularly interesting connection:
"I came across the first partner... Servinformación... which specializes specifically in geolocation. I was very interested because we are currently developing a project with the government of Bermuda... and this partner has already developed a solution that does exactly that."
A synergy with direct potential! He also mentioned other partners with platforms for cost and security optimization, such as Delite and Datadoc, with whom contacts were exchanged to explore possible integrations.
Julian, for his part, also had the opportunity to connect with well-known Googlers like Henry Alvarado and Pablo Bogotá, and meet others like Hazbleydi. The general conversation with them revolved around the fact that "Google is doing a lot of work focused on finding Agentic solutions for any type of business."
The Most Revealing Moment: The New Era of Development and Automation
When we asked them about the most revealing moment or presentation, Julián enthusiastically took the floor. He recalled a specific talk: "Modern Applications for the New Era of Software Development," given by Carlos Peña and Carlos Rojas Reyes from Google.
"They were talking a bit about the importance of artificial intelligence in terms of development, the paradigm shift... changing from the 'shift left' paradigm to a 'shift down' one."
This new approach, he detailed, involves a more complete platform team, assisted by AI to generate effective, high-quality code, shifting the sole responsibility away from developers. "To experiment means to iterate, to venture out and explore based on those iterations," he added, quoting the presenter. He mentioned tools like Google's App Design Center, which allows for the generation of infrastructure and code from prompts, and the striking fact that "25% of Google's code is now generated by AI."
Julian also highlighted a previous talk on using AI to create resilient infrastructures, where the importance of data, automation with infrastructure as code, and continuous optimization was emphasized.
Key Messages and Trends: Agentic AI and the Value of Data
Summarizing the key messages from the Summit, Juan Pablo was direct:
"Artificial intelligence is the boom right now, and it's what everyone is talking about."
Julian agreed, adding:
"Artificial intelligence, optimization not only of processes but also of costs, and tailor-made services with AI... the focus, the main point was [AI], but underneath that, you have automation, optimization, and strategic solutions."
Regarding trends and tools, Julián had no doubt: "Gemini, the agents. The agents have all the Gemini models behind them... Agentspace is also a big deal."
A crucial topic that emerged was ethics and security in AI implementation. Julián mentioned that one of the talks emphasized the importance of generating quality code for the company's context. "And how can an agent like Gemini know the company's context? By providing it with the company's information," he explained, assuring that Google is committed to handling this information securely and confidentially, without using it to train their general models.
The Impact for Clients and FluentData's Vision
As Google Cloud partners, how do these events strengthen collaboration and benefit clients? Juan Pablo made an interesting analogy about how other tech giants used to release products for the community to experiment with, thus generating valuable feedback.
"I feel that these types of events specifically serve that particular purpose... to have that complementarity, that integration... to continuously improve these systems and reach the end user in a more user-friendly way."
If they had to give one recommendation to companies in LATAM, both were emphatic. Julian stated:
"Companies must value their data, always building information or data correctly so that it can have value."
Juan Pablo complements this with a powerful reflection:
"Currently, all companies and people in general, everyone wants artificial intelligence... leaving data aside... The data culture is very poor... They want to generate these artificial intelligence solutions without even having, so to speak, gotten their house in order."
Finally, when asked about their main feeling after the event, Julian recalled a Mercado Libre success story and how Google Cloud intervenes to offer improvements even to "Greenfield" clients (those who already have a developed system).
"Google Cloud has the quality of sitting down with organizations, understanding their problems, and providing strategic and real solutions."
Juan Pablo added that he feels Google Cloud:
"Is a bit more user-friendly, much more... it has very solid documentation... I feel that if they keep doing things the way they are, they are going to achieve great things."
Without a doubt, the Google Cloud Summit Colombia was an enriching experience, full of learning and with a clear vision of the agentic future we are already building. At FluentData, we are ready to continue accompanying our clients on this exciting journey.
