What can we do better as DevOps Engineers?

It's not easy to answer this question without sounding like I'm promoting myself (though that might be true).

DevOps engineer tries to make things easier for the developers to test and deploy code faster in a consistent way. That’s not new.

But how can we do better?. From my experience, just having the ability to understand what are the struggles the companies are facing and looking for a solution is the key. In the other hand, just trying to break the endless conflicts between developers and devops is something we should focus on a lot.

Several time I’ve heard: Don’t give a developer access to anything, they will break things and they will ask to our team to fix it. Yes, that could happen. But the same could happen with DevOps Engineers / DBAs / Network administrators, etc. We are all in the same page here, we try to make it right, and all can make mistakes.

Several times I’ve heard: Why they want to have readonly to the terraform modules?. My question would be, why not?. We should be fostering for transparency, and if the developers have a better idea, if they have a way of doing something, why not getting their feedback.
