In a fiery political development, Andhra Pradesh BJP State President P.V.N. Madhav has strongly condemned the filing of a case against Deputy Chief Minister and Jana Sena Party (JSP) President K. Pawan Kalyan in Tamil Nadu. Calling it a blatant attack on Sanātana Dharma, Madhav accused the DMK-led Tamil Nadu government of orchestrating a politically motivated vendetta against Hindu traditions, values, and leaders.

BJP Blames DMK for Targeting Hindu Values

Speaking to the media on Wednesday, Madhav declared that the case against Pawan Kalyan was not just an attack on an individual, but on Dharma itself—drawing parallels between this and an assault on Lord Murugan, a deity revered deeply in Tamil culture.

“Temples are not just places of worship — they are the foundation of our social systems and the very backbone of traditional crafts and livelihoods,” Madhav said. “Protecting temples and cows is not just a religious duty but a civilizational necessity.”

He further alleged that the DMK government harbours deep contempt for Sanatana Dharma, the Vedas, and all that is sacred in Hindu tradition.

Solidarity with Pawan Kalyan and Annamalai

Madhav expressed the BJP’s full support for Pawan Kalyan, who had recently backed Tamil Nadu BJP president K. Annamalai in his campaign to protect Hindu institutions and religious rights.

Describing both leaders as warriors fighting to uphold Dharma and constitutional freedoms, Madhav accused the DMK of pursuing an anti-Hindu, anti-temple agenda under the guise of secular governance.

"Political Vendetta," Says Madhav

The BJP State president argued that the case against Pawan Kalyan was not based on facts or law, but rather a calculated move driven by desperation and political insecurity.

“The filing of the case is a political vendetta and a sign of the DMK’s growing desperation. The party is scared of the growing influence of pro-Hindu voices in Tamil Nadu,” he asserted.

He also noted that the BJP and JSP would fight unitedly to defend their beliefs and counter the DMK’s agenda, both on the ground and in courts.

Sacred Spaces and Temple Villages

Highlighting the cultural and civilizational significance of temples, Madhav emphasized that villages with temples must be treated as sacred spaces, not just as administrative zones. He reiterated the BJP’s commitment to protect temple heritage, religious customs, and rural livelihoods connected to spiritual centers.

He also warned that continued persecution of Hindu leaders and institutions would be met with strong public backlash, especially with the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections approaching.

BJP's Broader Strategy in South India

This incident and the BJP's aggressive response are being viewed as part of a broader political strategy to strengthen the party’s footprint in southern India by aligning itself with regional religious sentiments.

The move to frame the case against Pawan Kalyan as an attack on Sanātana Dharma allows the BJP to project itself as the protector of Hindu values, while cornering the Dravidian parties like DMK on issues of culture, identity, and religious freedom.

Party Cadres Stand United

BJP leaders and cadres across Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu have stood firmly behind Pawan Kalyan. At the press conference, NTR District BJP President Adduri Sri Ram, senior leaders Nagothu Ramesh Naidu, Mitta Vamsi, and others also pledged their support.

They condemned what they called the authoritarian tendencies of the DMK government and vowed to resist its policies that "threaten India’s cultural roots."
