ENG vs IND 2025: Mohammad Siraj hits third day, sends Joe Root and Ben Stokes to the pavilion in one over

These two giants of England could not run in front of Siraj’s terrible bowling
India got off to a great start on the third day of the second Test of the five-Test series being played in England. In the first two days, captain Shubman Gill has scored 269 runs while playing a historic innings. The hosts were under pressure due to the brilliant performance by the Indian bowlers.
At the start of the third day’s play, England were 77 for three. With this excellent performance, the Indian fast bowler Mohammad Siraj dismissed the two big batsmen of England, Joe Root and Ben Stokes, on two consecutive balls in the second over of the third day and returned to the pavilion.
The 31-year-old bowler of the Indian team first bowled the ball to England’s experienced batsman Joe Root from a round-the-wicket angle on the stump line, which Joe Root tried to play the ball, but at the last moment the ball turned slightly and took the edge of Root’s bat and went into the gloves of Rishabh Pant standing behind the wicket. Joe Root returned to the pavilion scoring 22 runs.
Ben Stokes returns to the Golden Duck
England captain Ben Stokes, playing his first ball, was caught on a short pitched delivery off Mohammad Siraj’s second ball. Stokes got a slight edge on this ball outside the off stump and this ball was also caught by the wicket keeper.
Significantly, this was Ben Stokes’ first golden duck in Test cricket. However, England batsman Jamie Smith, who came in to face the hat-trick ball, smashed the ball over the boundary for four runs.
The second day of the second match of this Test series between England and India was also great for India. Skipper Shubman’s double century had put India in a strong position, with the Indian bowlers also performing brilliantly.
Siraj dismissed Jack Crowley with a catch in the slips, while Akash Deep, playing in place of Bumrah, gave England trouble at the end of the day with two wickets in two balls.
