Is the 2025 Peugeot E-3008 Dual Motor the SUV for You?

The highly anticipated 2025 Peugeot E-3008 Dual Motor has now arrived, and as a team that rigorously evaluates vehicles for the European consumer, we’ve put this bold new electric SUV through its paces. Building on the success of the 3008 SUV, which has seen over 130,000 units sold across Europe with the electric E-3008 taking almost 25% of those sales, the dual-motor variant offers an elevated experience, directly targeting the heart of the competitive European EV SUV market.
A Design Statement for European Roads
The 2025 Peugeot E-3008 Dual Motor immediately distinguishes itself on European roads with its captivating design. We observed its sleek "fastback SUV" silhouette, a deliberate choice by Peugeot to blend the practicality of an SUV with the dynamic appeal of a coupé. This design, we believe, perfectly suits the diverse aesthetic preferences across Europe, from the chic boulevards of Paris to the autobahns of Germany. The characteristic "lion's claw" LED light signatures are prominent, flanking a body-coloured grille that exudes a modern, almost minimalist appeal. The attention to detail is evident, from the aerodynamically efficient profile to the sophisticated optional 20-inch alloy wheels that we found greatly enhanced its road presence.
While its design is undeniably striking, the fastback roofline, in our assessment, slightly impacts rear headroom compared to some boxier SUV rivals. This is a common trade-off for such a design, and while it might be a consideration for very tall rear passengers on long journeys, for most European families, it will likely be negligible.
Electrifying Performance:
Underpinning the 2025 Peugeot E-3008 Dual Motor is Stellantis' innovative STLA Medium platform, designed specifically for future electric vehicles. This platform is a cornerstone of its performance, setting new standards in terms of range, performance, and recharging time. The dual-motor setup, providing all-wheel drive, delivers a potent 320 horsepower (240 kW) and 509 Nm of torque. Our driving tests confirm its impressive acceleration, achieving 0-100 km/h in a brisk 6.0 seconds. This level of performance is more than ample for confident overtaking on motorways and navigating challenging European city traffic.
Peugeot has meticulously refined the chassis for this dual-motor variant. We noted the inclusion of stiffer anti-roll bars, springs, and shock absorbers, along with a revised, more direct steering system. This translates to a more agile and responsive driving experience, particularly noticeable on winding country roads and during dynamic manoeuvres. The enhanced traction from the all-wheel-drive system provides significant confidence, especially when encountering variable European weather conditions, from snowy mountain passes to wet autumn roads. There's also a dedicated 4WD mode for optimal grip.
However, during our evaluations, we did find that the stiffer suspension, while enhancing handling, resulted in a somewhat firmer ride at lower speeds, with some minor jostling over uneven urban surfaces. This is a characteristic that some European drivers, accustomed to softer suspensions, might notice, but it is a justifiable compromise for the improved dynamic capabilities. We also observed that the regenerative braking, while offering three levels of intensity, didn't quite allow for full "one-pedal driving" to a complete stop, a feature some rival EVs offer. The brake pedal feel itself could also benefit from more linear feedback.
Range and Charging:
For European drivers, range and charging capabilities are paramount. The 2025 Peugeot E-3008 Dual Motor is equipped with a 73 kWh (usable) battery, offering a strong WLTP range of 525-527 km (approximately 326 miles). This range is highly competitive and suitable for most European commutes and regional travel. For those undertaking longer international journeys, the forthcoming long-range model with a larger 97 kWh (98 kWh usable) battery is truly compelling, promising an exceptional WLTP range of up to 700 km (435 miles). This puts the E-3008 at the forefront of electric SUV range in Europe, potentially allowing for trips from Paris to Nice with only two charging stops, significantly fewer than many competitors.
In terms of charging, the E-3008 supports 11 kW AC charging (three-phase), which is standard across much of Europe and allows for a full charge overnight (around 7 hours). Crucially, it offers DC fast charging up to 160 kW. This enables a rapid 20-80% charge in approximately 30 minutes, or around 150 km of range added in just 10 minutes, making long-distance travel across Europe much more feasible and convenient. The availability of a battery pre-conditioning system further optimises charging times on the road.
A Sanctuary of Technology and Comfort:
The interior of the 2025 Peugeot E-3008 Dual Motor is where Peugeot's focus on European luxury and practicality truly shines. We found the cabin to be exceptionally well-appointed, with a clever mix of high-quality materials, including fabric inserts that elevate the perceived luxury beyond its price point. The build quality is robust, feeling solid and well-engineered – a significant step up from previous generations. The front seats, particularly in GT trim, offer excellent support and comfort, with options for ventilation and massage functions, which are highly appreciated on longer European drives.
The star of the show is the Panoramic i-Cockpit®, a magnificent 21-inch curved HD display that seamlessly integrates the digital instrument cluster and the central infotainment touchscreen. We found the display to be incredibly sharp and responsive, running Peugeot's intuitive software system. What sets it apart for us are the 'i-Toggles' – fully customisable touch-sensitive buttons positioned below the main screen. These provide quick access to 10 frequently used functions (e.g., climate control, navigation, heated seats), circumventing the common frustration of endlessly navigating menus, a real boon for safety and convenience on the road.
However, the signature small, hexagonal steering wheel of the i-Cockpit might divide opinion among European drivers. While some on our team adapted quickly, others found that it occasionally obstructed the view of the top of the digital instrument cluster, requiring a minor adjustment in driving position. Additionally, the wireless charging pad, while convenient, proved somewhat inconsistent with certain larger smartphones. Despite these minor ergonomic considerations, the interior experience is overwhelmingly positive, delivering a unique blend of style, technology, and genuine comfort.
Competing in the European Arena
The 2025 Peugeot E-3008 Dual Motor enters a highly competitive European electric SUV market, going head-to-head with established players.
Vs. Tesla Model Y: The Model Y offers incredible acceleration and access to Tesla's robust Supercharger network. However, the E-3008 provides a more distinctive and premium interior ambiance, superior material quality, and a physical control layout (i-Toggles) that many European drivers might prefer over Tesla's screen-centric approach. While the Model Y might offer slightly more outright luggage space, the E-3008’s boot of 520 litres is perfectly adequate for family needs.
Vs. Hyundai IONIQ 5 / Kia EV6: Both Korean rivals boast a highly efficient 800V architecture for ultra-fast charging and spacious cabins. The E-3008, built on the cutting-edge STLA Medium platform, counters with its segment-leading 700 km WLTP range option, arguably more sophisticated interior design, and a driving experience that feels dynamically more engaging in the Dual Motor guise. Peugeot also backs the E-3008 with the PEUGEOT Allure Care program, an 8-year/160,000 km warranty for the entire vehicle, offering significant peace of mind for European owners.
In terms of safety, the E-3008 received a four-star Euro NCAP rating. While not a top five-star score, it includes a comprehensive suite of safety features as standard across Europe, such as advanced emergency braking with night detection of pedestrians and cyclists, and adaptive cruise control on higher trims.
For the European market, the 2025 Peugeot E-3008 Dual Motor is a truly compelling electric SUV. Its bold, aerodynamic design, powerful and engaging all-wheel-drive performance, impressive range capabilities (especially the long-range version), and a uniquely premium and technologically advanced interior position it strongly against its rivals. While the firmer low-speed ride and minor ergonomic quirks are points to consider, they are outweighed by its significant strengths. For those seeking an electric SUV that combines distinctive French flair with genuine electric performance, advanced technology, and practical features for the diverse demands of European driving, the Peugeot E-3008 Dual Motor is an excellent and highly recommended choice that promises to be a significant player in the evolving European EV landscape.
