On the second day of the third Test between India and England at Lord’s, Jasprit Bumrah once again proved why he is the best fast bowler in the world. After dismissing Harry Brooke with a quickfire delivery on the first day, Bumrah bowled another blistering delivery, this time England captain Ben Stokes fell prey to his dangerous inswinger.

Bumrah dismissed England captain Ben Stokes in the third over of the morning. Bumrah bowled a round the wicket ball with an angled delivery. The ball stayed low and ripped through Stokes’ defence to hit the off stump. Stokes, who had scored 44 off 110 balls, looked in disbelief.

England resumed the second day at 251/4 and Joe Root fell short of his hundred by one run. Root completed his 37th Test century off the very first ball, after which Bumrah began his brilliant performance.

Before the third Test, Bumrah was one wicket behind Kapil with 42 wickets. He equalled the 1983 World Cup-winning captain by taking the wicket of Harry Brook on the first day and surpassed Kapil by dismissing Stokes. With this wicket, Bumrah surpassed Indian icon Kapil Dev in the list of most wickets taken by Indian players in England.

Meanwhile, Bumrah dismissed Joe Root with another nip-backer delivery which hit the bat and went on to hit the stumps. Bumrah then had Chris Woakes caught behind the wicket on the very next ball. Although the umpires had given him not out, India overturned the decision by taking a review as the edge of the bat was slightly touched.
