From Infra to Security: Why I’m Shifting My Focus in the Age of AI

Where It All Started ?
For the last few years, my focus has been building and supporting cloud infrastructure. As part of my work in DevOps and SRE, I’ve dealt with everything from Kubernetes, Terraform, CI/CD pipelines, to large-scale incident response. I’ve always been deeply involved in how systems are built and how they perform in production. But somewhere along the way, I started noticing a recurring theme that I wasn’t giving enough attention to — security.
Realizing That Reliability Needs Security
Whether it was a misconfigured IAM policy, an open endpoint, or secrets in version control, I realized that most of the things that kept me up at night weren’t just about uptime — they were about trust. About protecting data. About securing access. It clicked for me that reliability without security is basically an illusion.
The AI Layer Changed Everything
That realization only deepened as AI and LLMs started becoming a bigger part of infrastructure. Now we’re not just deploying apps — we’re deploying models. We’re exposing inference APIs, handling sensitive training data, and relying on systems that are only as secure as their weakest IAM token or misconfigured policy.
What I'm Shifting Toward Now
So, I’ve decided to start shifting my focus more intentionally — from infrastructure to security, and eventually toward securing AI workloads. I want to explore what it means to secure LLM endpoints, monitor misuse, harden pipelines, and implement guardrails at the cloud level. I’m not pivoting away from infra — I’m evolving with it. Because infrastructure without security won’t survive in the world we’re walking into.
What to Expect from This Blog
This blog will be where I document that journey — the things I learn, the things I try, and even the things I get wrong. It’s not meant to be polished or overly technical all the time. Just honest. If you're someone who's also exploring the intersection of cloud, security, and AI, I hope you find something useful here.
Thanks for reading — and more posts soon.
