My First Week at Web3Bridge: From Uncertainty to Understanding

You see, this life thing yeah, it’s really about understanding. MMS, God understands it all.
That’s the mindset I came in with when I started my journey as an onsite student at Web3Bridge.
To be honest, coming to Web3Bridge felt kind of weird at first. I had to leave my comfort zone and relocate all the way to Ikorodu for four whole months, It wasn’t easy. Leaving home, adjusting to a new environment, trying to settle in, it all felt like a lot. But then I thought about it properly: Four months to learn, grow, and level up? Now that’s a solid deal. It made sense eventually and the sacrifice felt worth it.
After arriving, one of my first tasks was getting a bunk that felt right. I was just trying to get comfortable and settled. Then, from nowhere, I got a tap on the back, it was one of my colleagues from university! That moment made it all real: We’re really locking in here for the next four months. To make it even better, we ended up in the same room. Seeing someone I already knew with the same drive and goal helped me stay motivated. We hold each other accountable and push ourselves daily.
Then the classes started and oh, my first quiz was hilarious and humbling. I was trying to help a colleague with an hotspot, and by the time I got to submit my answers, the form had already closed! I was like, “Is this how I’m going to start failing?” 😅 Thankfully, that quiz wasn’t recorded. I just chested it and kept going.
Things picked up from there. We dove into Blockchain fundamentals, starting with Bitcoin, its origin, philosophy, and the full whitepaper (which we were told to read). That was actually a fun read! We then moved on to learning about Ethereum and its whitepaper too. That opened my mind even further it was awesome to see how blockchain evolved beyond currency into smart contracts and decentralized apps.
Another interesting part of the week was our Encryption assignment. We were told to read about Encryption and then each person had to pick a sub-topic and present it to the entire class. At first, I had something in mind, but the material we were given didn’t have a wide scope, so by the time it was my turn, everyone before me had already covered what I planned to speak on. 😅
I had to switch topics three times crazy, right? Eventually, I settled on ICAP (Inter-exchange Client Address Protocol) and cleverly related it to ENS (Ethereum Name Service) demonstrating how both can help simplify wallet transactions and make crypto more user-friendly. That moment was a win for me.
Our tutor, Big Chief Franky, deserves a shout-out. He’s calm, composed, and teaches with real clarity. Also an alumnus of Web3Bridge, he knows how to break things down. But he also has this funny habit, after every quiz, he reads out the names of students who scored lowest... and I somehow always end up in the top 5 of that list! 😂
It’s been a bit tough, not going to lie. Scoring low doesn’t feel great, and sometimes it hits. But I’ve come to understand something deeper: low quiz scores don’t define how much I’m actually learning.
Do I like being called out? No.
Do I feel I’m really learning, regardless of the scores? Yes.
Do I want to improve and start scoring higher? Absolutely.
Because let’s face it, that could help me stay beyond the first eviction round. And even though I’m not overly worried about eviction (I believe I’ll make it through), sometimes I still ask myself, "How the heck will I even make it if I keep scoring low?" 😅
But in all, this experience has been fun, challenging, and worth it.
I’m growing. I’m connecting. I’m learning real-world blockchain concepts. And I’m just getting started.
Shout out to Big Chief Franky one more time.
And like we say around here: gWeb3Bridge Joorr!
