A Journey into Web3 Development

As I sit down to reflect on my first week at Web3Bridge, the excitement of embarking on this journey into Web3 development feels electrifying. Being admitted into this 16-week bootcamp, designed to transform Web2 developers into Web3 experts, is a milestone I’ve been eagerly anticipating. Physically joining the program has made this experience even more immersive. This week has been a whirlwind of learning, bonding, and envisioning the possibilities in the decentralized world of blockchain.

Arriving at Web3Bridge’s facility in Ikorodu was a moment of anticipation and excitement. The vibrant energy, coupled with the warm welcome from the staff, made me feel right at home. The hostel has been a fantastic addition, offering a space to connect with other cohort members and senior colleagues after classes. Adjusting to the rhythm of stretch classes and late-night tasks has been both challenging and rewarding. The environment in Ikorodu, with its mix of focus and camaraderie, has created a perfect backdrop for diving into Web3.

The free internet connection and reliable electricity has made the experience even better! 😁

As a Web2 developer, I was initially apprehensive about the shift to blockchain technology. However, the supportive atmosphere at Web3Bridge, both in the classroom and the hostel, quickly eased my nerves. The instructors highlighted the importance of curiosity and persistence, while the presence of my peers made the process easy. Knowing that Web3Bridge is committed to building a sustainable Web3 economy in Africa makes me proud to be part of this mission in such a tangible way. The sense of being part of a tight-knit community makes me confident that these relationships will grow into lasting professional and personal connections.

The first week’s curriculum, delivered through engaging classroom sessions, was an intense introduction to blockchain fundamentals. I learnt new concepts like decentralized networks, consensus mechanism, cryptography basics and I explored Ethereum as a platform for smart contracts & dApps and how it differs from Bitcoin.

The concept of decentralization resonated deeply with me. Coming from a Web2 background, where centralized platforms dominate, the idea of a user-centric internet feels like a paradigm shift. It’s not just about code, it’s about empowering individuals, which aligns with my passion for impactful technology. The interactive classroom environment made these ideas feel tangible and exciting.

Web3bridge’s founder also inspired us during his welcome address. His encouragement to leverage the community, both in Ikorodu and through alumni networks, pushed me to engage more actively with my peers and senior colleagues. The physical setting made these interactions feel personal and impactful.

By the end of this 16-week bootcamp, I aim to have mastered solidity, built at least one dApp and secured a role within the web3 ecosystem.

One major problem I seek to tackle is the issue of the security within the web3 ecosystem. How I’ll do this, I don’t know yet but I know that very soon, e go clear. Lol.

Here’s to a more incredible journey at Web3Bridge, and in the web3 ecosystem at large!
