๐Ÿ”ฅ The 5 AI Tools That Made Me a Faster Developer (and Saved Me 20+ Hours Last Month)

There are a ton of AI tools out there โ€” and most of them either:

  • sound good on paper

  • or waste your time in practice.

But a few actually helped me code faster, ship quicker, and reduce burnout. These are the 5 Iโ€™m sticking with in 2025:

1. ๐Ÿง  ChatGPT (GPT-4o)

Use cases:

  • Explaining weird code

  • Writing test cases

  • Refactoring

  • Drafting technical content (e.g. READMEs)

Pro tip:
Custom GPTs trained on your repo structure = dev superpower.

2. โš™๏ธ GitHub Copilot

Use cases:

  • Boilerplate generation

  • Real-time function suggestions

  • Working with unfamiliar APIs

Why I use it:
Itโ€™s like having a quiet pair-programmer sitting next to me.
Itโ€™s not perfect โ€” but it saves me thinking time.

3. ๐Ÿ“š Notion AI

Use cases:

  • Writing specs

  • Breaking down feature requirements

  • Auto-summarizing long discussions with clients

Why it helps:
If you build solo or freelance โ€” this becomes your async partner.

4. ๐ŸŽฌ Descript

Use cases:

  • Editing screencasts

  • Removing filler from video tutorials

  • Creating dev content (for YouTube/TikTok)

Cool feature:
You literally edit the video by editing the transcript.

5. โœจ Midjourney + CapCut AI

Use cases:

  • Generating landing page visuals

  • Editing launch trailers

  • Sharing projects in a scroll-stopping way

Why it helps:
Visual storytelling = visibility.
Especially when youโ€™re shipping solo.

๐Ÿš€ My Workflow in One Line:

๐Ÿง  โ†’ โš™๏ธ โ†’ ๐ŸŽฅ โ†’ โœ๏ธ
Idea โ†’ Build โ†’ Visual โ†’ Share

These tools power every step.

๐Ÿค” Your Turn

What AI tools are actually useful in your dev workflow?

Iโ€™m building a crowdsourced list of dev-focused tools that donโ€™t suck โ€” drop yours in the comments !

๐Ÿ“ฃ Bonus

Want a follow-up article with exact prompts I use for GitHub Copilot and ChatGPT when writing code or debugging?

React or comment below ๐Ÿ‘‡ and Iโ€™ll publish a prompt pack.

๐ŸŽฏ Final Thought

AI isnโ€™t here to replace devs โ€” itโ€™s here to:
โœ… Reduce grunt work
โœ… Help us focus
โœ… Ship faster

Just like testing libraries or build systems, you donโ€™t need 20.
You just need 5 that work well together.
