Why I Built an AI Resume Builder That Works in Any Language — And What I Learned

The Problem No One Talks About

For years, I struggled with building a “professional” resume. Not because I didn’t have experience. Not because I wasn’t serious about my career. But because every resume builder I tried either:

  • Locked features behind sign-up

  • Had outdated or rigid templates

  • Didn't support languages other than English

  • Or was simply overpriced

So I asked myself:

Why isn’t there a fast, modern, AI-powered resume builder that works for everyone — in any language?

The Idea Behind ELCV.app

That’s when I decided to build something lightweight, global, and useful.

💡 I wanted to create a tool that could:

  • Let users enter resume content in any language

  • Use AI to rewrite and improve it instantly

  • Offer professional-looking templates

  • Be accessible without signup or friction

  • Allow users to download it for a small flat fee

And that’s exactly what I launched:
ELCV.app — an AI-powered resume and cover letter builder for anyone, in any language.

Built in 3 Weeks

I used a modern stack to keep things fast:

  • Supabase for backend/auth/database

  • Vercel for instant deployment

  • OpenAI’s GPT API for natural language rewriting, analyzing, and generating

  • A clean front-end in React + TailwindCSS

I built the MVP in just under 3 weeks, working solo.

How It Works

  1. You enter your resume data (in any language)

  2. Choose from multiple resume templates

  3. Let the AI improve structure, wording, and formatting

  4. Download the final version (PDF / PNG / JPG) for $0.50

There’s no login required — unless you want to manage multiple resumes.

Early Reactions

I launched the project quietly and shared it with a few international communities.

To my surprise, I got amazing messages like:

“Finally a resume builder that doesn’t force me to register before testing.”
“It understood my Spanish input and rewrote it perfectly.”
“This is much simpler and faster than Canva or other tools.”

That confirmed something I believed deep down:
AI should make resume writing easier for everyone — not just English speakers or techies.

What I Learned

  1. People don’t want complex editors — they want results

  2. Global audiences appreciate language flexibility

  3. Simple beats flashy — especially for first-time job seekers

  4. MVPs can ship fast and still be useful

What’s Next?

In the next updates, I’m adding:

  • Bulk resume packages (10 downloads = $5)

  • Improved resume analyzer with AI scoring

  • More visual templates

  • Regional payment support (Stripe, Razorpay, etc.)
